John,

This subject was brought up in an earlier post, I think on Page 2. There are some crazy b*stards out there.

Would have thought every bitch rehomed would have been desexed first...???...!!!

If you bring in this Draconian Rule, The NSW Government, which ultimately controls racing in the State of NSW, will have to apply pressure to the Administrators of the Thoroughbred and Standardbred racing Codes to introduce a similar rule as failure to do so will be grossly unfair. You see you cant be tracking greyhounds from birth to death on the one hand, but turning a blind eye to the other two codes of thoroughbreds and standardbreds going to the knackery on the other.

In the meantime, the Thoroughbred & Standardbred Racing Codes, WHO ARE EQUALLY GUILTY of the same welfare issues, get away scot free and are actually rewarded by the State Government by giving them money earned by the Greyhound Code.

HHHmmmmmmm

The tracking of dogs from birth to death is not possible rather it is tracking from birth to unlicensed persons.

You can fill in a form and nominate the name of a 3rd party to which the dog has been retired as a pet. If that person is unlicensed then the dog could be put down, dumped, sold, exported, bred from or mistreated without the knowledge of authorities and no longer the responsibility of participants.

It is not a requirement for dogs to be desexed when being privately re-homed, so most are not...

All the rescue/ re-homing groups I know will always desex a dog before it is adopted, but many turn up on Facebook, Gumtree, left in pounds etc just straight off the track. They are advertised in these places usually because they have suffered an injury or are older and the owners/ trainers don't want to spend the money on them to re-home them.

They then go to people like the nut job that is breeding them (yes, she posted an Expression Of Interest Ad on the Greyhound Buy Swap Sell Facebook page)... She got 2 dogs from 2 different trainers and slightly different times... Her story was that she wanted the girl to have a litter before desexing because 'she wanted her to have that opportunity' (or some such rubbish), then she changed her story to say that he got to the bitch while she was away... Although how you miss a bitch in heat, I don't know!!!

In one of the last post I read, she claimed it was not planned but she decided to let her have them instead of aborting the litter (which any responsible person would have done!!) I saw someone posted about her being a vet nurse, but I am not sure how true that was... I didn't check the info, as I was too busy sorting out the new dogs coming into care to be re-homed!

The whole story sounded a bit fishy to me, as she was going on about how great the breeding was, but these would only be pets, not racers... She claimed she had permission from Council and GRV!!!
