its high time the classifieds were a paid section ,,
i cant believe how some people rort a free add . and they do it day in day out ,,
the classifieds dont seem to be monitored any more , you can put what you like there ,, adds no prices etc
Hi Guys, The classifieds are monitored daily. Any named adult dogs found in the pups section will be removed and asked to re post in the dogs section, unfortunately there isn't much we can do if the dogs are unnamed. All ads with no prices are removed but there are no rules against giveaways.

The core problem is not someone wanting to "give away" dogs but the Welfare rules implemented. When the slow dogs were exported there was a local market for the Country class dogs. Now you can't export a dog - you struggle to euthanize a dog - GAP is over run and by and large most trainers are not interested in Tier 3 Country class dogs. Hence people are simply trying to cut their losses and give dogs away to those hobby/owner trainers happy to race in the Country or Tier 3 - trouble is there is simple too many now and the market is flooded. This issue has only just begun to take shape. It is a reflection "again" of poor policy implementation - the problem was in the Industry 12 months ago.

Jim what's the problem with this???
woukd you prefer they just knock these dogs off??
W all can't have grp dogs in our kennels. I'm sure there are a few trainers that are prepared to give these dogs a go.
Good on the owner or trainers who try to give them away. Rather than to take the easy option of just putting them down.

And GAP has a long waiting list, and even then they won't always take them. They may even suggest re-testing in a few months time.
It's not hard to see why people are now offering money for somebody to take their give-aways. $200 seems to be the going rate.
Strange that nobody quizzes the big breeders/owners as to the whereabouts of the hundreds (or thousands ) of their dogs when they finish racing each year ??

Well said Darren! My wife and I take the odd giveaway and have some fun with most of them. When they finish racing we adopt them out.

I think it is brilliant people can offer dogs through greyhound data free of charge.
There are so many people who race at various levels and every dog has the chance to find the right home and place through this service.
If you really want to be a stickler then maybe create a breakins and unraced dogs for sale section.
Persoanlly I give every dog who breaks in in 19.50 or over at mannings away and I use this service for that. Hope it never changes.

I don't see the problem Jim. I'm giving the bitch away because I have too many good dogs coming through and can afford to be selective. She will win races just a bad box dog like the ad says. I'm not interested in putting her on for money because I'd have to wait a month to move her on. Keep your opinions to yourself buddy

Bingo...Nic Even share of Stake money over all grades would alleviate this problem reinvent the grading system to cater for slower class dogs..
PROBLEM SOLVED .....No more GIVEAWAYS and flooding of slower dogs in the Classifieds .

Hi Kev I've been saying for years the prize money split is all wrong.
Even more so now th gap is just way to big between city 5k plus country $1300 plus and tier 3 $660.
Take Healesville they race for pittance it's full TAB meeting then they have there cup and I think it's worth over 50k.
If we want these slow dogs to race till there 3-4 years old we must accommodate them. Most hobby trainers can't survive on tier 3 prize money.
IMO very TAB meeting ( Tier 3 ) should be at least 1k with second and third prize money more even.
$1000 for first $500 for second $250 for third.
I think you would find a lot more trainers would hold onto these slow dogs.
How can a city race ( TAB meeting ) be worth over 5k when Healesville ( TAB meeting ) be worth $660.
To put it into context you would have to win half the race card at Healesville to equal 1 race in the city.
Time for the powers to be to wake up...................
Even the prize money split and you will be well on your way to having dogs race for a lot longer.
As for these commercial breeders make then be accountable for there wastage
OK guys we hear you. Well any idea's what we do about giveaways in classified's, if we ban them then we would only get people advertising dogs for 10 quid. Give me your idea's and i will put them forward.
