GRV is extending the new lure design trial to be used in races at Warragul, Bendigo and Cranbourne in July following positive feedback around the trials held at The Meadows and Sandown.

This will see five tracks and up to ten meetings a week use the new lure design.

Extending the lure trial to Warragul, Bendigo and Cranbourne will allow GRV to collect and compare data around how the lure performs on one turn and two turn tracks.

Warragul will trial the one lure design, currently in use at Sandown from July 2.

Cranbourne and Bendigo will take on the two-lure design used at The Meadows from July 10, following the Bendigo Cup series.

Warragul Greyhound Racing Club Manager Adrian Scott is excited by the opportunity to trial the new lure design at his club.

The club is committed to supporting innovation and fostering changes that will enhance the performance of greyhounds in races and ultimately provide a better and safer product. Hopefully in time that will prove to be the case, Mr Scott said.

Bendigo will commence the use of the lure once the Bendigo Cup series is complete on July 10.

The club was keen to be involved in the trial from the outset, Bendigo Greyhound Racing Association Manager Troy Harley said.

The lower lures create a more natural chase simulation for the greyhounds and the two lures also gives the natural wide tracking greyhounds something to chase as well as the railer.

Kev,

This is just a copy of the GRV media release (and should say so).

1. There is no evidence whatever to support the quotes by various people.

2. Nowhere has anyone said why the wide hooped lure is no good - and why all the expensive trials and experiments were wasted.

3. Queensland demonstrated conclusively - with year-long evidence - that the high hooped lure substantially reduced FTC and fighting, as compared with the old fashioned type.

4. I am a great admirer of Troy (and his old man) but he has not the slightest justification for stating what he is supposed to have said in the release.

5. The fact that GRV is working with two different versions of the new style lure indicates that they don't know what's good anyway.

6. This is what happens when you are spending someone else's money.
