Tony,

I did not offer anything - I merely pointed out that it can be done and to a large extent, already is in Oz. It was a lot of work and we would have had to use a dozen or so sources at one time or another, often changing from one to the other as the buggers altered their coding. And one of the several reasons I have discontinued our db is that WIN10 does not talk nicely to DOS.

However, it would do no harm if people like yourselves pleaded with Oz authorities to merge their Stud Book and form databases

I could add that the gallops are furiously trying to do the same thing as we speak.

Bruce.

Pleading to the PTB asking for data to help support their industry also falls on deaf ears in Australia .....GA is great but the GRV like to control all aspects of there industry in Victoria this includes all records from birth to death
what info the GRV do give out can only be taken with a grain of salt ...GAP in Victoria cannot not even add dogs to retirements pages..
The problem comes from the top down ..The GRV don't even support any group not alianed to the GRV its very poor for all foster groups they suffer from a lack of funds all over Victoria and Australia fostering GRV greyhounds .

Hi Terry, in answer to your original question no racing boards worldwide are helping us to record dogs from birth to death.

We do have many adoption groups worldwide helping and the work Michaela Muller and the rest of the retirement team are doing is outstanding.

Tony,

I think we should point out to the fans that aside from the two major contributors (GRV and OzChase) there are a few sources which could would help create a "birth to death" racing record of dogs. It just requires the interest and the IT expertise.

We have been doing it for nearly 30 years. That even included de-encrypting already encrypted form files.

Obviously, that would embrace both current and retired racers (providing they had been named).

Unnamed pups etc could also be assessed but via different sources. They are of no value for form purposes so we have never bothered with the stats - important though they might be.
