Phil come 18 months time there will be a shortage of greyhounds and feasibly you will still be able to sell pups from her (if your fear is you won't be able as I'm sure your a breeder that relies on selling them) you will regret letting her miss.

Offer her on a pup deal to Fernando bale to Paul Westerveld he may go for that?

only city class bitches for Fernando.Good luck on that one PAW .

Is that the conditions for fernando!

Things have to be " BLEAK " in the breeding Industry when you advertise a Straw for sale from the Leading Metro Sire " BEKIM BALE " and offer it for sale at around 1/2 the Advertised Price or near offer and people don,t want to buy, 12 months ago you would get sick of answering the phn.

perhaps half the advertised price , is close to what the actual price should be , in todays climate ?

Possibly, seems a big discord from the leaders of the industry to the actual situation on the ground.Vets and studmasters have yet too realise we are in a recession.

James he is driving a hard bargain there but he has the million dollar fella in his kennel and he is allowed to do whatever he thinks is best for the dog ...he may be forgetting with all the success he has had with breeding from City winning bitches that there are still a lot of ladies out there that can produce good dogs from any sire and they never got past provincial class ....James I was thinking of doing this CLICK HERE but with that 1 rule restriction he won't be letting me on ......I can remember me going over to Broadmeadow races many years ago Go Mod was the horse I wanted to back so I went up to Big Bill Waterhouse to have my 10 bucks on it at 5.50 and low and behold he knocked me back for the bet it didn't stop the horse nor me from winning and ...irrespective of what sire my girl goes to if she is going to cut it in the barn as a Matron then she will

I was only joking I like everyone else don't know what his future after racing is.If he stays here it may be only bitches on season with city winning form but in todays climate and stud fee of over 3000 they wont be lining up for months waiting.Your bitch might get a go and so will your credit card.

numbers are coming down rapidly

could be reduced further, if the giveaway that has been placed, was removed,,

also the sold dog could be removed,

and the add thats placed twice for what seems the same bitch ,,

this would drop the tally to 50

Mick.....one things for sure, all the ANTI'S will be cheering, dancing, CELEBRATING in the streets after seeing the massive drop in whelping's over the past 7 months.

These lack of recent whelping's is an indication of how easy it was to cut this industry in half.

The anti's will be singing out loud, what a bunch of "Soft C#ck$", apportion of Australian greyhound breeders are after this easy victory.....They'd be wishing they done this years ago. If only they knew it was going to be such a WALK-OVER.

Unless breeder's invest & believe in their dreams, the future doesn't look bright.

For what it's worth......If you want greyhound racing to prosper in this country..........If you want sires in this country to stay & not be sold overseas like we've seen recently with SPRING GUN & MAGIC SPRITE DUE to the decline in breeding (I also know of another 2 good sires that have also been sold off in the last 2 weeks).....then bl00dy breed.

Without progeny, we haven't got an industry.

It's as simply as that.

Well said Steve,

They are trying to contract the industry by stealth. After reading the Greyhounds Australasia memo and the Racing Queensland submission to the McSporran inquiry. Add the lack of effort from state boards to repudiate the flawed figures. It's the only conclusion you can come to. Destroy owners, breeders and trainers confidence in the future of greyhound racing and wait for it to wither away.

If we are apathetic we will fail in our duty to greyhound breed.

No matter what obstacles the authorities put in our way if breeders keep breeding we will come out of this better and stronger.

There is going to be a shortage of greyhounds in 18-24 months.

The Tab's are still going to want greyhounds races to bet on.

The punters will still be betting.

There will be great opportunities in the future.

I can't see any reason not to be breeding.

Because the sport may no longer be legal in australias biggest breeding state that's why.

James,

That's a defeatist attitude.

Greyhound racing is still legal in NSW and will be for a long time into the future.

More the reason to keep breeding.

We have to make it even harder for the NSW state government to even contemplate the thought.

One state government isn't going to shut down a industry while the other states continue with it.

Would be pointless.

One other point the compensation that the NSW Tab would be wanting for "breach of contract" of the 99 year agreement with NSW racing industry would be massive.

'the sport may no longer be legal in australia's biggest state that's why'........want to bet James? :)

Steve and Paul are correct.

Be positive and keep breeding.

Then the future will be assured. Its in our hands.

Hopefully there will be a big spike in breeding during the next 3 months.
