Hasn't the theme since the whole live baiting debacle been using sires who are going to throw natural chase into their offspring, and then with the whole wastage situation with too many pups not making it to the track, why would you even risk breeding with a sire that literally has 3 tickets?

Q. Is there a fine line between 'chase' & 'aggression'?

Paul: So dogs don't Mar (fight) in Ireland? you can breed it out of them? WoW

Terry that's not what Paul said mate. I think he was suggesting that breeding with dogs that mar or fight gives you a greater chance of producing more dogs that mar or fight. People used Surgeon as well overlooking his chase issues and he was disappointing regardless of his undoubted speed. This fellas got a nice pedigree for mine but I'll do the same as I did with Surgeon and watch his results before I would think of using him. I knows there's others that will be happy to give him a try though.

Doug: The sad fact is we have so many Group races back to back to back, these top trainers rarely own these dogs, and try and maximise there earnings. With very few let up's hence the tired sore dogs on Friday. Nothing to do with what Paul was inferring.
I don't think fighting is an inherited gene!
BTW Fear Zafonic has his share of fighters in Oz

A dog gets 3 tickets for marring and most of us reckon he shouldn't get another chance?
Maybe fair enough, maybe harsh?

What about a dog that gets out fast and turns hard right every friggin start?
The bloke drawn to his right scratches because he knows his dog will be cannoned into. 2 favourites out wide get massive interference in a major race, one of them gets a 10 day injury.
Yet this dog will line up again next week somewhere.

What do we do with this dog?

Well Quinny they are talking about Pref Box seeding! will that work?
Doubt it! Turns hard right? Send to NSW reverse way of going, sorry only horses. Food for thought Why do we only race one way? putting all that stress on only one side of the Dog? Welfare issue? Inside outside lures change every 2 weeks? Costly, need not worry Quinny The Alliance will have all the answers,(Just wont tell us).
BTW Had a dog race in Qld several years ago named Raudonakis, got 3 tickets outted 12 months, bought him back and raced, now that is perseverance! alas it did it again.

Do you think pace is an inherited gene?

Maybe 4 or 5 round stakes are the way to go and see how many are still chasing by the time they get to the final. It's easy to train a dog to do flash runs for one or two nights.

If it's that easy Paul, perhaps you could try! plenty of good prizemoney on offer. What happened to Delores Ruth? wasn't she to begin a satellite organisation, 6 months Nth. Hemisphere and 6 South

Young Tom Dovavan is making a good fist of training out here! perhaps Paul you could contact him, and find out how hard it is to win here.
Paul you didn't read my post well, these dogs are backing up week after week in Top grade races. Like I said Paul Gr1 races back to back would take to long 4/5 heats, semi's etc Do the Best dogs always win these 4/5 round stakes? Last Dog standing! Does luck figure?
Do you think pace is an inherited gene. Yes, So is colour!
But put the Fastest dog in the world, over the fastest bitch, Paul wont guarantee you champions. Been tried! Haven't seen any proof that dogs are born fighters. Are Tigers and Lions born killers?
Never heard a trainer state to stewards, my dog fought because it's sire, or grand sire did. Over to you

First two offences (watch) hardly done by!!! In my opinion, marring first time was Melb Cup, .o5 sec had a quiet look.

The rest will do him the world of good, especially a change in kennel routine. Will come back and explode to win several more races. However will be under the Microscope every start.
To good to retire.

an interesting aside to the appeal process is that the RADB gave weight to evidence from 2 "experienced stewards" who viewed the race from the stands. thus evidence of course supported the marring charge. imagine if they let the crowd umpire a game of football

Does anyone know what prices a straw is?
