Just a reminder to any British Greyhound breeders or supporters of British breeding that the AGM is tonight.
Towcester 5.00 - 5-30 expected start time
Tonight is the first round of the British bred Derby at Towcester. Towcester have kindly let us have a room in the main stand in which to hold our meeting.
If you would like to be nominated for the committee or would like some input into the BGBF please attend.

john i have done my bit regarding british bread pups. altho i havnt done the rearing myself. i have paid to have them profeshonly reared . the likes of united leeds. micky boyz colision ivy. rays pride. ivys ray.. but who gets all the money out of greyhound racing. not the owner. times must change to give incentives to breeders. i have three of united leeds pups in rearing kennels but no more after these has finished. tracks run graded dogs when convenent for them. the tracks take all the money. the trainers carnt loose as the owners pay the kennel bill

I may have misunderstood your post Keith, and if I have I apologise, but you appear to be complaining about tracks and about racing rather than breeding. If that is correct then I do not think that this is really the thread to use.
John - I hope the meeting went well. I have a litter of 5 that are now nearly 14 months old - 4 dogs between 33kg and 36kg plus one bitch of around 30kg - and although they have been to the track for a look, they won't be making any serious visits until 2018.

We have no control over how tracks operate Keith, we are just trying to encourage people to buy a British bred puppy. The British bred races have been well received with various races over a variety of distances at a geographical spread of tracks.

It was an AGM Stephen, pretty boring stuff but it is correct practice.
Election of officers and committee. Discussion of breeding figures with the British Greyhound Stud Book (Liz Mort).
The discussion was restricted by not knowing our fund money allocation for 2018. We are aiming to consolidate the British bred races in the calendar and trying to smooth out other irritations to hopefully improve things further for British breeders.

John I have a litter of 10 at 16 months old ready to go shortly, I sincerely wished I could make it to these meetings but its difficult with work etc so apologies for that, there were some interviews on rpgtv last night and a few mentioned that they were breeding there own greyhounds and that the British breeding competitions , prize money etc was an excellent incentive for this to continue and grow, I personally think British breeding is on an upward curve and long may it continue, also the people involved in achieving this deserve mountains of credit for there hard work .

Good luck with your litter Jason, British breeding numbers are no longer falling. There seems to be a positive attitude to British bred greyhounds at the moment, and hopefully it will encourage owners to buy British and have a crack at our competitions.

As a Stud Keeper, Breeder and rearer I think I play an important part in british breeding as do those people who use our stud dog at present Leamaneigh Turbo and previous to that Windy Millar. The fact of the matter is John not all use Forums, so wouldn't it be better all around if breeders were contacted directly and informed of such meetings, I am sure a list of who has registered litters can be obtained from Liz, that way your meetings may be boosted in attendance by those who know a venue and can then attend. Just taking a break from whelping another litter and found this post by chance.

morning Neil thanks for your,e comment ? .the Irish are cutting back on breeding. but let me ask you when i put my business play together. to gbgb. to try and sort out greyhound racing. i wrote the gbgb to ask for a grant to set up a fund to buy some land in Leeds to build a greyhound stadium. rearing and retirement. did you back it or like some think it wont work

John - was the website management discussed?
As a side, I believe there was a feature to sign up to on the BGBF website, having signed up to this I find it surprising that this mailing list was not utilised to notify members of the AGM which may of increased attendance numbers.

Was this meeting advertised anywhere as it may be a bit much to put a post on here the day of the meeting and expect people to see it and attend at such short notice. The first i knew about it was hearing the trainers rep moaning about the poor attendance on RPGTV last night.

the point i was trying put across i have tried to buy british and bread a litter from scratch got decent pitch which might be a good match. yes we doit with the hope of getting a dearby winner. you tell me were the incentive is to keep doing this.it cost about 4000 to buy two pups and have them reared to 15 months old. i might as well go out and buy one for 4000. give owners a incentive to breed or back what i tried to do

There is no membership fee it is free to join Vincent, all breeders are welcome, we need breeders input.

We are in the process of updating the 'social media' side of things Ron. We are looking at having a new website, regular twitter and facebook posts. In the meantime you can always contact myself directly. Mark Pierrepoint is the new secretary and he will be doing the social media side of things.

The website and all social media was discussed, as stated in my previous post we are looking to be more active in this area. We all have our 'day jobs' and do the breeders forum work voluntarily without pay.
Do you have questions about breeding theories?
