was after opinions on which sire to use for my bitch Mullet Hunter, This bitch raced 48 times and earned $74,000.
she was a high class stayer making the stand final of the National Distance, winning over sprint, middle distance and she stayed

I would go with High Earner he has clicked well with Premier Fantasy bitches and also through the damline to produce Ralphy Cinel and Popsome Tags ect.

thanks luke , i did see this before that is why i mentioned high earner and i was leaning towards using high earner , i was just a bit concerned with that mating as some of that litter were average.

i do like the matings where temlee is higher than 15% and would like to bring the old blood back again

thanks ronald for your reply
what is your reason for choosing an irish and us dog
do you think an irish dog would work again like premier fantasy worked?

Hi David.
Taylors Sky has some great old blood and strength through
Sonic Flight, Leggy Waitress, Benjamin John, whose sire
Take A Bow won Aust. cup over 675 yards. Tremendous winning
sires on Taylors Sky line including plenty of Temlee Blood.
Good luck which ever way you go David.

and I like the look of Magic Sprite as both Brett Lee and Spiral Nikita lines seem to work well with Premier Fantasy, though you may not get the stayers you are seeking

yeah i am leaning towards using Brett Lee, he does seem to click with the premier fantasy dam/sire.
it will be expensive to use him but hopefully we get some future champions in the litter.

David,

You mentioned that you would "like to have stayers", in my experience (and history in the main), trying to breed stayers is like most/all breeding, an inexact science, and can be "hit and miss".

In my opinion you are better to focus on a sire that can bring attributes that you think/know your bitch may be missing/slightly lacking in, and if a pup(s) from the resultant litter can stay it would be a bonus.

As you know your bitch was strong and her dam line has a history of throwing strength, so this is a solid base from which to suggest that a "stayer" or at least a 600 metre pup(s) could result from any mating, but again, it is my personal belief that it is nigh on impossible (extremely difficult at least), to to purposely breed stayers with any accuracy, and for clarification, by that I mean pups that can simply run 700 metres outright let alone being competitive on the clock.

Now some will/could argue that the majority of breeders aren't trying to breed stayers specifically and therefore this is why we don't see more pups capable of running 700+ (number of race opportunities aside, and the demise of "marathon" racing, etc.), but again, I personally believe that pups are born that either can or cannot inherently run 700+ irrespective of how much conditioning, and or who is training them.

Yes, you will always find exceptions to the rule, off the top of my head two gentleman who always seem able to breed a stayer(s) are Robert Littlefield (out Orange way) and Michael/Helen Ivers (Somersby), but if you trace back, there tends to be a continuous line (within the dam line) of bitches they use(d) who could stay.

The above mentioned said, when looking at potential sires I did take into account your request/wish, as well as her two previous litters, although none are yet to race, and thought the following may be suitable. Apologies for the number, I may have got a bit carried away, (in no particular order).

Irrespective of which sire you do eventually decide upon, all the very best.

Hey David , I know you have made up your mind but for what its worth I think Royal Assassin (straws are available in Private adds) would be a nice cross ,with him producing Dancing Habit with his mating to Crazy Habit. Dancing Habit then went on to produce three GROUP dogs to Premier Fantasy. I also like Jarvis Bale who is also in Private adds , and feel he would also help maintain your staying lines. I would do either of these matings with the thought of using BL with the best bitch from resultant litter. Only problem is that in the time it takes to see if you get a top class bitch from resultant litter, may not leave you enough time to use the BL straw on your bitch due to her age, if you dont get a good bitch from resultant litter. JMO Cheers.
