Be careful if you have any birds of prey around.

Most of my whelpers don't move them out of the enclosed whelping area till about 7 weeks, then don't get moved out into a paddock until probably 10+ weeks old. Before then they are just too small to fight back against birds or other animals. Not worth the risk.

Tony, just be careful if you are leaving the mother in with them, when they are moved, as some bitches can get very nasty towards the pups as they grow, especially at feed time.

I always move pups from a whelping box to one that's twice that size which is still enclosed and undercover, a couple of days after their eyes have opened, around 16 days.
Once they reach 24 days, I let them out in a 3 x 6 metre cement run where they can roam freely from "Run" to "Inside Kennel".
They will be let out on the grass morning & night during that time as well, only while I'm supervising with either a Coffee or a Stubby.
Once they start "Lapping", I never let mum in until they've had enough.....where she'll clean up the leftovers.
Hope that helps Tony ;-)
