From your experience what percentage of bitches would be 6/9/12 monthly?
And do cycle lengths tend to be inherited - will a 6 monthly dam be more likely to produce 6 monthly bitches.

I would say that DNA passes down a line but there is no rule to it but most times if a Bitch comes on every 6 months then you would find her Dam and her Dam also carried this trait IMO.

The Stud dog also passes down his DNA so if you had lets say a Dog with a Dam who comes on every 6 months and he breeds with a 6 monthly Bitch IMO i believe this also gets passed down so if you have 4 Grandmothers all who come on season every 6 months i would say you had a good chance of passing this on continuing until such time as the DNA structure is changed ..

Some Bitches experience a condition called silent heat, in which they do ovulate but the characteristic signs of being in heat, vulvar swelling and discharge, are not observed. Although rare, some bitches may also have an autoimmune disease that affects their ovaries and interferes with estrous cycling.
