The one that got away maybe....its not just the stud dog you lose but i get annoyed that we also lose the damlines also. Hes one for sure but plenty of others you think if you had similar lines you would love to go back. But once they leave the shores you need luck to get the pedigree back. You need an overseas champion to be able to reintroduce the line. I guess its a matter of money talks

Roanokee was a jet early but prospects mustn't have been good. But went well once he left here. Personally breeding wise and as a race dog i was surprised he left here.

He left here for what would have been a record price at the time not because he was a failure ... i think he only served 40/50 bitches here before leaving and threw some pretty handy performers .. Mint Mojo .. Subic City .. Sydney Tiger .. Queen Muffin .. Lady Mint ... Viper's Sting etc etc

Happy to have Roanokee sitting in Rockhill Kate

Perhaps NATION PARADE could be included in this, whilst obviously very fast, he went to stud not having raced; litter brother to outstanding bitch PROMISES FREE and RED SWINGER

Further, arguably even DARK PRETENDER CLICK HERE litter brother of PRETTY SHORT, RUSTIC VENTURE, etc., and eventually sold to US interests. Again, PRETTY GUY CLICK HERE from the 1984 repeat mating of TANGALOA x PRETTY NEW, also sold to US interests.

If we are talking unraced sires. I'm 99% sure Dark Pretender raced and was very accomplished.

Dark Pretender was a top class greyhound
I remember him just missing out on a spot in the Melbourne Cup won by his litter sister Rustic Venture

He was put to stud in Qld after retiring, but by that time Pretty Short already had his first progeny to race and was lighting up the world

Dark Pretender was then sent to the US

Pretty sure Chris was chasing future broods when choosing El Galo. As the greyhound gods can cruel things, she had 6 male pups.

If you are looking for a real breeding guru who can back up his knowledge with results, Chris is your man. Deadse champion bloke and has a wonderful grasp of all aspects of the industry.

Paul/David

The inclusion of Dark Pretender in my post, whilst a good race dog, he was, as a stud prospect, always going to be well and truly in the shadow of his far more illustrious brother, and was never going to command anywhere near the attention Pretty Short was/would, but given his bloodlines stood at stud nonetheless.

Yes, it could be argued that it was not the greatest example , however, when comparing Pretty Short and Dark Pretender, aside from sharing the same bloodlines, for mine it really was chalk and cheese between the two.

I suppose a better example if we were solely talking unraced sires, may have been Typhoon Tide? CLICK HERE

The power of BLETCHINGLY crossed with AMMO GIRL can be seen in another BLETCHINGLY star RIGOLETTO - EXTERNAL LINK

Whelped in 2019 by a sire whelped in 2001.

Ive mentioned elsewhere on Data the cross between Fabregas and Big Daddy Cool produces 32% city winners to pups born. In comparison #1 sire Fernando Bale produces 20% city winners to pups born to any random blood.

This one looks likely to win in the city in the not to distant future...

Again, following on from the above

Fabregas ($2450) carries Awesome Assassin & Head Honcho

Fernando Bale ($6600) carries Awesome Assassin & Head Honcho

Black Magic Opal (P.O.A) carries Awesome Assassin & Head Honcho

When all 3 were crossed with broods carrying Big Daddy Cool...Group 1 class results - No Donuts, Pindari Express (Fabregas), Tommy Shelby (Fernando Bale), True Detective (Black Magic Opal)

Theres more than one way to achieve the same result.

WOW! This brood got 3 tickets...marring...failing to chase.

The breeder decided to line-breed exceptional lines in a pedigree for a sensational result. To date the progeny of Full Noise Turbo have won $750,000...

Guess it was good sound thinking trying to fix his bitches problem Jamie? Shed probably be a lot faster than shes shown the public...not being 100%. Which no doubt would have been the temptation to breed her and its worked a treat!

While there were some good dogs produced among them, 7 out of 32 pups also got tickets including in that group some that could run

Sandro you can pick the eyes out of every brood. Whether as you say its 7 that got tickets or just 7 legless ones that cant get out of their own shadow...mate this brood has produced a smorgasbord of good dogs and $750,000 in prize money to date. Its a win win example!! The bitch is a city winner, but would undoubtedly be a lot faster than shes shown for the breeder to breed her. Fair play to them!

P.s there are that many suspect pack animal chasers out there that dont get tickets, that should. My pet hate is the baulker...its not really chasing...rather senses a dog on its outside and keeps stepping out to stop the dog on its outside from passing. There are a zillion of those types that never get questioned by stewards, but should!!

I forgot to mention there were at least another 10+ legless ones as well in that 32

All families have black sheep, plenty of humans as well, but my point is, to try and improve the family you need to examine how and why the black sheep arose and to minimize them in future matings

But, again what you mention can be attributed to every single brood and bloodlines out there. They all produce every type at some point. And as Ive mentioned...many get away without a ticket when they absolutely should receive one!

For the breeder of this particular brood to get a result of many quality offspring and bank $750,000...fair play to them!

A quick glance at the way theyve bred this brood. Theyve clearly tried to straighten her out through hall of fame line-breeding. Thats commendable when they started breeding her!
