Thanks Michael I am torn between sires and just thinking do I take the gamble on a split litter and hope I get an even spread.
im no expert but in my case the semen that was years old produced the six pups , the other two vials drawn recently produced one pup per vial ,
perhaps years ago the semen wasnt stretched so far lolllllllllllllll
just to update this topic , we lost the bitch from puzzle prize early in the peice,
six pups went to mc namaras for breakin, 5 royal assassins and the meticulos dog, picked them up yesterday all went within one and a half lengths of each other , in 18.50 the meticulos dog quickest first split , one of the royal assassin bitches quickest run home time ,
pup number 7 has a little injury and didnt go to the breakers yet, but he is a nice dog and hopefully he goes ok as well ,
i know breakin means nothing , so we will see how they progress over coming months , its an interesting concept and i think its worth following up on what the pups can achieve from such a mating ,
I attempted one recently but could not get permission of the stud master of one of the proposed dogs and thats where it stopped. i thought once i owned the frozen semen than it was mine to do what i want with. This silly rule about having both stud master's permission seems pointless, they have nothing to do with the mating yet they get an over riding decision making power.

Mick
You mentioned that the "older" semen produced the largest number of pups, now this might sound a very stupid question but out of interest/curiosity was/is there any correlation to the number of pups per sire in relation to the order in which the AI's took place?

hi david alastair at sandown, where the procedure was done (implant ) all semen was frozen, the semen was thawed mixed and implanted , im no expert but i do believe back in those days we got a little more for our money , lol

yes you do have to get the studmasters permission , its about , returns/refunds etc for a miss with one of the sires ,
i simply said the risk was mine , so no problems from the three studmasters ,

Anyone care to put up some named pups and race results so far? I know it's only early but there'd be a few of us that'd like to keep up with how it's all going. From what I can see Larissa's litter would be around 2 years old by now.

Mick would you do it again. Do you feel it was worth the cost.

Some of ours are still racing, others have already been placed through GAP. Ours are of limited ability (they are racing at tier three level) but chase hard and are nice dogs - just sadly too slow.
The dogs still racing for us from our split litter are: ALARMING SILENT ALARM WARNING

hi kevin , would i do it again , yes probally at some stage ,
the cost , well everything greyhound costs , sometimes its recovered , most times its not lol but we are quietly confident we can get a winner or two from the exercise , time will tell, mayb we will get lucky and she produces as well as her sister lol
has this been done ,where 2 straws of different sires been implanted in a bitch and is it legal.can we get it done

Grant as you know Mr Barry is a banned member and cannot post so I guess you are teasing him .LOL.( he should be back soon I guess )
I own one of these dogs from that split mating and he is at best is only a tier 3 .
The others I don't know much about them but if you ask Mr Barry over on the other forum he would have a better idea .
I am personally in favour of split matings and i have a nice split one now at 7 weeks old and I will continue to do splits in the future .
I hope I have been helpful tonight and I look forward to answering any other comments you may have.

Grant its a pleasure to tell you I have had the DNA done at 6 weeks old along with c3 and Microchip . I rang Kate at GRV today in fact to ask her how much longer I have to wait and her reply was I don't know maybe next week so I said thank you Kate . Once we get DNA all we have to do is get ear brand with the correct microchip and dog then its all over red rover and they get picked up by there new owners .
Interesting thing is I know who is who already and its looking like 3 Sure As and 5 Whackers .
Next litter for Dragon Angel will be a interesting one also .
