When's your next pedigree of the week due out? I was half expecting ADB after his Melbourne cup victory, keep up the good work.

Simon

Space in the Recorder can be limited so the pedigree of the week gets put aside. It is newspapers and after an entire life working for them, I understand.
However, this does not mean they do not get written. I have just been slack updating my own website.
I have every intention of writing a review of Aston Dee Bee plus a few others who have gone to stud like Dundee Osprey, Knight Sprite. I was disappointed Aston Bolero was sold to the US. I hope there is semen for him in Australia as I like him for a range of bitches. He was crying out for Head Honcho and sons of Brett Lee ... and they are everywhere.
I sent a pedigree of the week on Outside Pass to Recorder after her Ipswich Gold Cup win but it missed out.
Here it is.

Regards
DB

THOSE who own superstar Outside Pass know only too well they have a potential broodbitch great on their hands.
The Head Bound-Tina's Show by Late Late Show bitch landed her first Group victory when proving too strong in the Ipswich Gold Cup.
It was her eleventh Group final but first victory. She should have won a heap of them before now but for tragic bad luck.
But, from 61 race starts she has won 27 and been placed 15 times for $215,000. It is a record most only dream about, but one that could have been so much more.
Br4ett Lowry and his in-laws who share the ownership of the bitch have already started looking for potential mates for Outside Pass.
They, like so many more, have been impressed with the performances of Barcia Bale. Who isn't!
Ask Outside Pass' trainer Tony Apap what the bitch is like and he will tell you she is a wonderful chaser, going just as great at almost four and a half as she was when a baby. Her 30.22 victory in the Ipswich Gold Cup is evidence of that.
She has won in fabulous time over 520m, 600m and 710m at Albion Park so speed and stamina are not a consideration that needs to be put into the progeny of Outside Pass.
The bitch is from a very stout damline one that Laureen Renner nurtured in Queensland for generation after generation.
Tina's Show, dam of Outside Pass, won 10 races and six of those at Albion Park. She has a wonderful Irish cross of close relations but back in her pedigree.
Her dam Berella Batina was a multiple Albion Park winner.
Next dam Berella Xanadu won the Dapto Maiden Classic.
Fifth dam Fearless Folly was a very good race bitch, especially at Ipswich, and a half sister to a dog called Henry's Folly who won 31 races at Ipswich including wins over 431m, 512m, 630m and 732m.
The damline traces to Janelle's Star (seventh dam of Outside Pass) who was a half sister to Maria's Mystery a finalist in the National Futurity.
Outside Pass' litter also includes the very smart Vegas Bound who was third in a Group 2 Ipswich Auction but a finalist in the Group 1 Albion Park Gold Cup and Group 1 Winter Cup.
So, Outside Pass has every credential to make it at stud.
Barcia Bale will be an interest mating.
Obviously it is always wise for an unproven broodbitch to be mated first up to a highly successful stud dog.
Being by Head Bound, a Head Honcho son and half brother to Brett Lee, means she probably should be mated to a stud dog that brings in Brett Lee.
Check out the very fine litter by Head Bound in Australia that included Jethro and Bell Haven, both Group staying stars. Their dam was by Bond, a son of Brett Lee.
Barcia Bale brings in a cross of Brett Lee via his son Hallucinate (damsire of Barcia Bale).
But, this potential mating will also duplicate Head Honcho 3x3 along the direct sireline on both sides of the mating.
There will also be a strong "Irish" influence via Grove Whisper and Late Late Show. They have many common ancestors.
For me, I would have to at least once, mate Outside Pass to Thirty Talks ... the fact he has Bombastic Shiraz as his damsire means everything in a potential mating to Outside Pass.
That's because Outside Pass' second dam is a daughter of Placard. And we all know Placard is bred on an identical cross to Bombastic Shiraz's dam Bombastic Blonde.
The Group 1 National Sprint winner Metz Magic was by Bombastic Shiraz from a daughter of Placard.
Thirty Talks is a grandson of Brett Lee so there is the proven link with Head Bound.
Credibility will also be duplicated in a Thirty Talks-Outside Pass mating but balanced via a son and daughter.
In fact, Unfinished, dam of Thirty Talks, is bred on a similar cross to Berella Batina (second dam of Outside Pass).
Much to think about for the "That Will Do Me" Syndicate that races Outside Pass.
In the meantime, an Ipswich Gold Cup victory is plenty to savour.

Thanks for that, for those people who don't know David has his own website without advertising/linking it should be easy to find. I for one enjoy going through the pedigrees of the week and other articles.
