I was speaking to a breaker last week and he mentioned that he had broken in about 6 LM, his comment was that they do everything right and were around the mark.

"Around the mark" translates to needs a few lengths to reach average time, and I'm glad they're your problem
"Doing everything right" translates to, They jump, they chase the bunny but not very fast.

Isn't it funny how people can translate what some else has said into the opposite. The way I understand it for him to mention to me (as I do not have anything to do with the dog or have any pups by him, I was inquiring about a surf lorian bitch to be broken in) that he was impressed by them doing every thing right from the word go and were around the mark that they wouldn't have to improve that much to be handy

That's what I would have thought it meant too, Greg.

PS: If people can't get a straightforward (HONEST & DIRECT) response from their Breakers, I reckon they're probably using the wrong person & establishment! If they're no good (or unlikely to be any good), I certainly expect to be told so ... not have someone sugarcoat it and cost me more money than in necessary.

On one hand we have threads stating "don't sack your dogs on break in times"...then we have the threads talking up or down a new sires break ins....& hanging the sires reputation on it

I'm confused :)

There is a nice L.M. pup with a well known young trainer. First time out of the boxes at Appin won a 4 dog trial in 16.02. Has easily broken 16 secs. several times since.
