If you think it might be giardia just worm her with panacur next time , 1ml per every 2 kg bodyweight for 3 days .

It's a single cell organism that will infect the gut . Some dogs seem to tolerate it with no symptoms at all . In others the infection will build up to a point where the gut becomes inflamed , the dogs starts to have a problem digesting fat and it will have a bout of smelly diarrhoea .

This will flush out the worse of the infection and the dog will appear to be fine . Owners will often change the diet and as the dog improves think that they have solved the problem .
Once the level of infection builds up again the cycle repeats itself .

In between the two extremes you get dogs that seem to have a low level of intermittent diarrhoea .
You can get a vet to test a stool sample but a single negative result does not guarantee that the dog does not have the infection , the test may have to be repeated several times because the level of giardia in the gut will fluctuate .

I find it easier and cheaper to just do a 3 day course of Panacur , if it settles the dogs tum then job done . If not , well you've dealt with any worms .
