Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has ever had a 6mth old pup break it's tail before and had to have half of it docked (cut off) ?

Would/Could it potentially reduce his balance/steering or racing ability when he gets older or even so his value as a greyhound?

Thanks

No, there are plenty of greyhounds with docked tails, even amputated close to the tail bone, and have raced without issues. My dog Made of Magic broke his tail at the track and the vet amputated nearly half off and he came back and raced without issues, won 19 races.

They adjust pretty quickly.......nothing to worry about.

I hope ya youngster goes on with the early promise m8. As 4 having a partial tail dock , 1 only has to go back & examine 1 of the greatest race bitch's I had ever witnessed grace a racetrack the immortal champion FLYING AMY. She had about a tad over a 1/4 of her tail docked very early on when being prep'd to begin racing & trust me , it didn't have any detrimental effect on her ! Press on m8.
