It only just dawned on me after I seen the 'ask the vet' at the top of my screen and it reminded me that some people have knocked the concept but I used it and the advice I was given was worth a lot of money because my only option was to use Murdoch University over two hours away and they only do a first consult then you come back and won't take any other vets first diagnosis. People know that I had a bitch that passed only blood and was a wreck, thin and wouldn't eat and this is after a very impressive trial time a spell and then a week at the trainers it all went down hill (no fault of the trainers. I asked on here first as there's been a lot of greyhounds that have passed through hands of the people on this site but what people thought it could of been we'd tested for and she was clear. Cutting the story short a vet treated her on three occasions and then found that she was allergic to meat, what kind of meat? The vet said there's know way of finding out just feed her a group of special feeds, special kibble and special can food $$$$ special in price lol. So I 'ASKED THE VET' he told me about a test that can be done to find the likely proteins that could be the problem and he also said that he'd speak to the vet here in Australia and talk him through it, so my wife rang the vet here and told them about this test. The lady vet nurse said 'there is no test because she has a dog with a similar problem so I contacted another vet who took some blood and said yes he knew about it and sent off the bloods and told me that it takes around three weeks to get the results. The result outlined the most likely foods that would cause the internal bleeding so a holiday at home introducing food group to the bitch she come good and is know racing. I know that in the end we would of got to the start of the problem but it saved me hundreds of more dollars by just using the service provided on here so my membership paid for itself for the next ten years lol. I must add though that I was back at the old vets picking up something and the vet nurse was at the reception and I said, you remember Narda and how she's on the special hypoallergenic foods and she said yes how's she going? I was very happy to pull out my phone and show her the email from the clinic that showed everything in detail of the foods she allergic too, I said politely that I asked another vet and had Narda in that day and got THE TEST done :) She got the clinics name so she could get her dog tested and she did apologise.
