hi all just an update - changed his food on Friday last week, that night he had another episode of running around howling and shaking his head but since then although he has one or two shakes of the head each day - we have had no more howling or serious scratching and he sleeps at night a lot calmer too- I have also bought a dustmite spray that I have been treating the piece of carpet he lays on at night and his bed with - so not sure which is helping the most - i have cleaned his ears once and there was nothing there so I am sure it is no infection ...he doesn't have milk but he loves cheese -woudl that have the same effect as giving him milk ??

Carol, that's good news for your poor dog !! See if he keeps improving, and if he doesn't, try cutting out the cheese, as it does have milk in it, as you know. Very good news, so hope the condition clears up completely.

maybe I spoke to soon - we had a lot of head shaking last night no howling though -one ear was very hot to touch and when I cleaned it with a wipe a little dark wax came out - after a few calming words he did settle - maybe this will happen until he gets all the toxins out of his diet, unless it is dust mites I guess... - although he had a few biscuits yesterday as at home with my daughter - and they have wheat in them - whereas I had cut him down to only 4 a day - I am off to the store today to see if i can get some wheat free treats and see if that helps at all

Hi Guys,

Would anyone know how many lengths it effects a greyhounds performance if they were diagnosed with an ear infection/bacterial infection?

did you ever have an ear infection?
I did once .I will never forget it. I could hardly talk never mind run .the answer to your question is ofcourse he will find time .not only the pain but his balance wouldn't be 100 %.
