Frontline plus but its very expensive now that you can only get it from the vet.

Treat the breeding source(environment)thoroughly with pyrethrum insecticide solution...can be cheaply obtained at hardware stores.
Drench it.
Wash the dogs with a dilution of 20ml/2litres of cheap shampoo.(leave on the dogs for only a few mins...wash off.)
Repeat both in 1 week to kill hatched eggs.
If necessary, repeat again 1 week later.

Cheap and extremely effective.

Eradication complete.

spectrum 200
it contains 200g/L of Imidacloprid.
by far the best you only need 1.25ml 25kg and over, no more than 2ml
mix in syringe with some water to help absorb.put on neck of dog.

Revolution,it works but is expensive.if you do all your dogs with it at the same time, you will get rid of them.don't use straw and check any new dogs comimg into your kennel.for little pups I would use a drop or two on them.If you can give yards a rest from being used, this helps heaps as movement makes eggs hatch.I have not have fleas for years doing this.

Doesn't work with infestation in the environment.

Its the same as Confidor but a little cheaper.
Both will work well but only temporarily if you don't eradicate the fleas from the environment.
You will be chasing your tail if you don't.

I use Comfortis tablets on mine - supposed to be a monthly dose but once all dogs are on it, the fleas in the environment get wiped out and you only need it again if they pick them up from somewhere - I've used it 3 times in the last year - so it works out cheaper than that spot ons which don't work very well these days anyway.

DON'T worm your dogs at the same time, Tom!

Thanks for that Michael - I will keep them away from Ivermectin.
Cheers,

I had an infestation in a puppy yard....layered it everywhere and left it there for over a week...absolutely no change at all.
Mixed pyrethrum insectide in water, drenched in kennel and all around...DEAD.

DE does a good job with cockroaches though...
Heard the Qld team sprinkled a bit in the blues dressroom last origin...;)

Frontline may be considered expensive but it is promoted as being safe to use on pregnant and lactating bitches which has to be a plus. It will treat the pups who are feeding off the bitch so there shouldn,t be a need to treat the pups individually. A lot of other products will kill the adult fleas on the dog but not the eggs and larvae in the dogs immediate sleeping and kennel area. Frontline does. Flea larvae can lay dormant for up to 12 months in soil etc. so all the suggestions about cleaning up and treating the environment are certainly the way to go for long term management.
