In the UK we use Norethisterone. Half a tablet daily in their dinner.
I had 2 bitches on it for the maximum period allowed, 12 months, and both ran really well on it although some don't.
Primolut is another one.get it in chemist.half a tablet a day dermot

Type in---'-This is a Great Read', Brian King, Bottom quarter, of the article, ---views on suppressents. modern versions, I gather, are a much diluted, from the 'make up', of Primolut N.which I read, somewhere, 'drains iron, over time.

WHY ? At the end of the day it does them more harm than good.I have never used a hormone or steroid to keep a bitch from coming on season in my 25yrs+ letting them come on is great for at least 3 reasons.No.1; when a bitch has her season it really cleans em right out. No.2; when a bitch 1st "shows" you can fairly accurately work her cycle out when it comes to the next time she's due on or when/if you want to breed from her. when you feed in the morning you check. No.3: from our experiences "clean" bitch's throw better quality progeny. Many may disagree with my methods & that's fine , each to their own. If my come on season I just throw them into our long runs 3-4wks then bring em back in. has worked wonders for our bitch's who still retain top form at over 4yrs old ! But its every trainers own decision to make I say Wayne.

Also a natural season will strengthen the bitch up no end and will prolong her racing career.

both bitch's I've got are 6mth bitch's Mark. I said its up to each trainers discretion whether to put em on something or not. I said I don't ever ever put ANY bitch I train on ANYTHING & gave my reasons as to why. Wayne can do whatever he pleases as their his bitch's not mine. read my reply correctly Mark

hello steve, i have no pleasure in suppressing our bitch but she had a very heavy season just before xmas when we brought her back at 12 weeks when she started racing she seemed very flat for the 1st 4 races just got her goung then she came in again so i decided to surpress i just want her to get a run of races under her belt as she is a nov11 bitch if her forms suffers being surpressed will take her off it.
