She is ten years old, pad started bleeding yesterday, blood everywhere. Its not a cut, just looks like a crack opened.
Took her to the vet who dressed it and said, "it will be alright in a couple of days" but I'm not convinced. Padding around the house before we noticed it, I'm three hours already cleaning the carpet.
Anyone experienced anything similar? Problem!

John it sounds as if she has very dry pads try Neatsfoot Oil which is used to keep leather soft you can get it at any horse suppliers or on Amazon, or look up Mushers Secret which is used on Huskeys feet. I have used both in the past and both work really well.

Carole is spot on or you can use "old timers white salve" its good stuff to. Just make sure you keep it sterile clean & kennel floors sterile , just to avoid any possibility of infections. good luck John.
