Anybody had dogs with this problem ??

And no it is not the fibula that is the problem !
Confirmed by x-ray

You could also call it a "bruising" of the bone.

It is the Tibia that has a stress point nearly in the middle of the bone.

Treating with on lead walk only and Traxam Gel.

How long would you keep the dog on the lead to make sure the bone have healed properly ?

Karin, Zheng Gu Shui is excellent for stress fractures like this. Usually, broken or fractured bones take about 6 weeks to heal, so hope that helps you somewhat.

I think stress fractures are probably more common than people realise , often being mistaken for other shorter term problems . With the result that the dog is given a few days off then returned to racing only for the bone to break .

I would also look at your feeding regime , just putting in calcium doesn't work , the dog needs the correct balance of calcium , minerals and vitamins to use the calcium for strong bone development .

Carole is right give it time to heal 6 weeks ..Zheng Gu Shui mixed 50 50 with DMSO seems to work so much better because of the drawing power of DMSO ...

Many people mistake this injury and needle the area around it and in most cases this delays the healing time ...

I would get a xray again in 4 weeks time just to make sure the bone has regenerated at the fracture ...Patience ...

Thanks for your input.

Roughly what I thought - time time time time LOL

As it is a young dog not a problem.

Just I have never had this problem before and now have two from the same litter.

Maybe they are later matured/developed than I am used to.
