He's been in with the vets 3 times and 3 X-rays and ultra sounds, the question is will the dog survive open chest surgery and what's the consequences

That's my issue, he is In There being monitored but they say it's either a punctured lung r twisted lung and that he mit not survive the operation and it's a couple of grand to get done, I was wondering has anyone put there dog through this and wat was the out come, the vet is a very highly taut of bet over here so I'm just taking his advise

The thing is there's no sign of a cracked rib but there must have been some trauma, and I don't keep my greyhounds myself as there with a top trainer and he doesn't recall anything that happened either. The dog is in good form but not right

If this might shed some light on the matter regards cracked rib not showing up . 3yrs ago I fell in the bath and hit the top of the bath and landed on my left side and I was in agony , I went to A&E and they took xrays and even though I could feel something moving and a squashy feeling they said no ribs were broken but I felt something wasn't right and was in agony and couldn't even lie down in bed so slept sitting up downstairs for weeks , then after a month I got a letter from the hospital telling me a registrar had looked at my x.rays and found I had broken 3 to 4 ribs , So could it be that your dog has got a broken rib/s that isn't showing up on the X.ray ..Oh and for months afterwards I suffered with bad chest infections because fluid was getting trapped in my lungs and it took 3 lots of different antibiotics to clear .. I know this isn't about a dog but just giving you an insight and example of what could well happen with a dog if things get missed .. I hope you find out what is wrong with your dog and you can get him treated .

Is there a problem with the spleen ? That can cause internal bleeding if it's ruptured or bruised .
