Davos. If your given this pup (13months old )all the worming you have stated, you have most likely poisoned the pup, Damaged the stomach lining, Blood tests are very difficult to interpret, get your vet to fax copy to vets John Murray or John Newell to get a proper accurate appraisal. I hope this helps.

Well there is a bit more to it ...its true over 2-3 mth period he has had 3 lots of all wormer and a 3 day pannacur course (which I am led to believe is easy on the stomach ).

But when he was off his food he was very loose and I saw segments in the stool ...and heres the thing I wormed him one morning before breaky and when I came back into his run (part grass) I noticed he had eaten grass ..and the worm tabs were all spewed up ...so wether he has done this before and I did not notice ...adds another dimension to it all

Mate I haven't read other suggestions so this may be said already but I would only feed minced chicken frames to him at night about 650 gm and a good oil supplement as well as the kibble coprice or whatever soak it all day with all the warm water it will suck up you'll see a different dog in a month or two
Cheers

Going down to feed the boys now ...tonights method I have decided is nothing but raw mince no kibble for him ...he nailed a meaty brisket this morning and I tossed in a bbq chook carcass mid day and that's gone ...like I said he eats ...just not quite anogh to put on weight

Davos. You don't ever give dogs cooked bones. They splinter and can choke your dog, to many raw bones cause constipation, then you may well feed your dog PAL, (to make him crap) Once kennelled up 1 bone once a week to help keep teeth clean. Let us know the out-come of your trip to the vets.?

Davos Cut the pal out all together, take a stool sample to your vet ,check for strongli. (hook-worm eggs) Failing that a blood-scan as carole suggested would be hugely beneficial. Hookworms are a serious problem if contracted .Not all worming products cover what they advertise

The pal is fairly rare ...just some of the ways I tried to get him eating .

in last 2 mths I have wormed him with endo guard all wormer , fidos colosales , big pink 20 kg ones per tab (forget name ), plus I did panacur 3 days in a row . Have a friend who suggested we hit him with some equimax and an antibiotic shot ...thinking of going that way ...and I guess the bloods as well .

Davos i have used cydectin plus tape with great results for many years 1st of every month.

Every third month i use eqinade horse paste length of thumb nail.

Was put onto cydectin plus tape by mal dawson in qld.
Storys of people using so called all wormers and at 12 mth pups ending up with ball of tape worm in gut.
I remember getting a dog to train around 18mths of age couldnt believe how many worm came out of him with the cydectin plus tape.
Only problem is its only available in 5ltr lots
And has shortish use by date.
So i go halves or thirds with others.

I worm pregnant mothers there last 21 days of there term with panacur 100 and mother and pups every two weeks until 12 weeks old with panacur.
Then there onto the cydectin plus tape as stated above.

thanx paul ...couple of my friends with rearing farms don't rate worm tabs at all as well ...another good one apparently is a dectomax injection .

Cydectin +tape is over the tounge or an im injection ?

what sizes and strengths is the one to get ?

Davos, don't forget the tonsils too, as they are very often infected in young dogs, and very often the cause of lack of appetite and lack of weight gain. A blood test will show up any infection in the body, too.
The eosinophil count in the blood test is a good indicator, too, as to whether he has a worm burden.

thank you carol im thinking of taking him to liz brown in casino

Davos u have had some good suggestions I also find muscle pro invaluable have a dog here put 4kg on it now going good. This one of the best products I have used a must in every kennel imo.

Here is a link to the one i use 5lt smallest they sell would suggest ordering in person at stock agents to get longest used by date.

You really need to go at lease halves with someone because you would never use whole 5lt yourself before used by.

I used 1 ml per 5kgs body weight needs a really good shake before dividing up and use as there two separate ingredients.

In syringe over tongue davos aim for the back of the throat as they will spit out if just put on tongue cheers

EXTERNAL LINK
Around 220.00 i pay from memory

Do you use it for your pups and race dogs, or just the pups only?

Might be an idea to get a few people on here together and do a "group buy".
