Greyhound racings leading active racer, Husker Magic, the sports undisputed queen from Derby Lane, has been named Captain of the 2015 All-America team, the American Greyhound Track Operators Association (AGTOA) announced today.
This is the 53rd annual All-America team, dating back to 1963. The program annually pays tribute to the top eight greyhounds nationally, as deemed by the member tracks of AGTOA.
Others named to the latest team are: Flying Fired Up (Southland), Need My Moneynow (GulfGreyhoundPark), Bs Headliner (Naples and Southland), Seldom Told (Gulf), Bocs Hank Jr (Bluffs Run), Highlyclassified (Derby Lane) and Storm Control (Palm Beach).
Tagged for the All-America Second Team are: O Ya Gunsmoke (OrangePark), Red Utopian (Flagler and Naples), AMF Sleekstrangr (Wheeling), AMF Spamwich (Wheeling), Chasmos Dutch (Southland), Ted Cruz (Wheeling), Bocs Tony Romo (Bluffs Run) and TMCs Sweety Pie (OrangePark).
Husker Magic (Rhythmless-Casino Zada), who also was named to the 2014 All-America team (the only repeater on this years squad), is the sports leading active winner with 96 career victories. She captured the Daytona 550 BetAmerica National Championship early in 2015, following up with a victory in the Derby Lane $64,000 Sprint Classic. Owned by Imark Kennels and racing for the Abernathy Kennel, the Blonde Bombshell won the Derby Lane Spring Meet track title with 23 wins in 32 starts, as well as the North American win title with 41 wins in 57 starts. She was a finalist in the Derby Lane Fall Sprint, and chalked up win streaks of 11-straight and 8-straight in 2015. She continues to race at Derby Lane, and finished a game second in her defense of the title at the Daytona 550 in January. Next goal: breaking into the 100-career win circle.
Flying Fired Up (Rhythmless-Flying Ablaze), owned by Vince Berland racing for the Lester Raines Kennel, captured the Southland $50,000 Sprint Derby and the Southland King & Queen Stake in 2015, en route to being named co-track champ with 22 wins at the W.
