Hi has anyone any advice to offer I have a 12yr old bitch who is leaking even after emptying her bladder, other than these little mishaps she is in a good healthy state, any advice is welcome.

Has she ever been spayed, Linda ? If she has, this can happen as they get older, unfortunately. It might pay you to take her to a vet, just to check out whether she has any bladder/kidney problems, or an infection.

Thanks for replying yes she was spayed when we retired her I will take her for a second opinion as on her annual check just recently vet found no problems she said it was old age and to expect it happening which I don't believe she is the only bitch I've had as all my others (4 retired} at home are dogs. We believe in looking after them when their racing career is over, or find them another forever home. x

Thanks Linda, is was only a thought as certain medications if used over a long period can cause the same problem as your bitch is having.

check that there's nothing wrong with her, first a urine sample then bloods if needed. If that's ok then she's incontinent and that can be treated easily with medication
