I see this as a WH&S issue. Should all race clubs have a defibrillator with their first aid kits for use in the event of a someone having a heart attack. The club where I race the average age of all attendees including staff and patrons is well over 50 and not all heart attack victims are old. As the current machines are basically automatic to operate so any one can use one after a quick familiarization training session. As the designated first aid officer (if there is one) is not at all race meetings and trials should all local Club board members be trained in their use as one board member is always present at race meetings and trial meetings. The cost is $1500 - $2000, cheap if it is a life saver.
Does your Club have one on hand if not, should they be supplied by the individual Club, Governing Body or Owners & Trainers Assn.
Whats your thoughts.
