go and get a blood count done at a good greyhound vet and get someone else to check him out for a start then go from there.

Donal, there is a manipulation that can be done, which has worked on other dogs with a similar problem of having trouble getting up off their bed.
Either go to a very good chiropractic manipulator, or you can do this yourself. Get someone to hold the dog for you and make sure that he is standing square on the ground. Then with the flat of your hand, press down firmly on his spine working from the middle of the pin bones right to the start of the tailbones, all in one motion. When you have done this, stand behind the dog and grasp his tail firmly at its base and give his tail one very firm pull downwards at about a 45 degree angle to the ground. This sounds odd, but it definitely works and I have seen it done successfully quite a few times. I have also often seen it done with the dog's back legs held off the ground and both spread backwards, while the operator, holding the legs and standing behind the dog, puts his chin on the sacrum and presses down firmly. A click is often heard while this is being done. The back legs are moved backwards as the manipulation is being done. Both ways work, so see how you go and good luck.
