announces his retirement from radio today,,
i think all greyhound participants in NSW should be proud of what he did for the greyhound industry when the government tried to close the industry, id say without his support and Hadley/Murray the industry would have been gone

He helped save the Dogs, he helped save the Bunnys, & he's made Australia a better place to live in.
He may be hanging up the mic, but he'll still be on the box overlooking his fan-family.
But Ben Fordham as his replacement, I don't think so.
Don't get me wrong, I like Benny but he's not the one to drive the bus first up on 2GB. He loves the "Dump-Button" & 9 times out of 10 he uses it on his callers. He'll need to put that aside & listen more to Alan's listeners if he wants to hold down this prestigious morning spot.
Smithy would have been my pick for the job.

Ben Fordham was not sympathetic to the greyhound industry when we looked like being shut down. He was a strong supporter of Baird and his cronies who made the decision to close the industry.
The majority shareholder of 2GB is now Fairfax Media, huge supporters through their editorials and reporting of both The Greens and The Left. I suspect this is a dominate reason for Jones leaving. I reckon Hadley is there on borrowed time as well.
If the loss of advertising revenue was a concern because of some of Jones' comments it will be nothing compared to what they will lose after 29 May when Jones moves on and listeners tune in elsewhere.

He always stood up for the battlers & never worried what his opponents said about him, Alan is the main reason NSW is still racing... He is a national treasure...

Fordham is Bible mafia and anti dogs. He is one of the dumbest pricks I have ever seen on TV.

Benny bagged the dog industry when we were down , 2GB will be turned off in our house between 5.30 and 9.00 each morning , Allan will be missed.

nsw greyhounds would be gone if it wasn't for alan and ray primarily imo. they were the leaders who returned fire instead of cowering and begging to the grubs that shafted the industry.
