Hi Kate - depends on how you look at rules versus implementation I suppose? Any buffering agent is prohibited per the rules. Does Bicarb Soda swab - well yet to see a positive anywhere in any jurisdiction for swab results for dogs (versus horses). That said - never ever saw a Tobacco (nicotine) positive until this year. So in theory why risk it? In reality - no examples of a BiCarb positive anywhere in dogs. Does it help aside from cramping their guts during a hard run - try it (maybe in an unofficial trial) and find out if it helps your dogs in any beneficial way. Post race BiCarb has its place.
