Hi Carole, Any views on the withholding period re swabbing with Zheng Gu Shi? Has anyone used this right up to race day/kenneling?

I've used it the morning of a race before. I've been told it doesn't swab.

Thanks Andrew, I suppose the question is, has any one been swabbed after using ZGS close to racing? And are they still with us? Or did the swab prove negative? My concern is that some swabs seem to be returning positive to some unusual chemical compounds.

Garry, In the past it hasn't shown in a swab, but these days you have to be extra careful, so maybe err on the side of caution and leave it off for a couple of days pre race ?

I agree Carole, and without supportive evidence to guarantee otherwise, thats been my practice. Better to err on the side of caution, you just don't know these days. I recall reading in a recent GRNSW stewards report, that a trainer with an unbleamished record for 20 years or so, copt a positive for a herbal supplement.

Carole would ZGS be good on a torn monkey muscle?

No Allan, you would either need a laser, an ultrasonic machine, needling or a combination, after the swelling has gone down.

Going off the items list on ebay for this product it seems as though there are a few different types of boxes it comes in. So it can be confusing. EXTERNAL LINK Wouldnt you think if it all came from the same place that they would all be identical. I bought a few bottles a couple of weeks back out of Hong Kong. Paid $3.90 a bottle. I suppose those that sell it in Australia need to make a few bucks too.
Is the best way to use this product the same as Bone Radiol? Or do you not need to use as much as bone radiol due to the smaller bottle?

This Zheng Gu Shui is becoming a little of a mystery. I always need to be certain when it comes to what I am applying prior to racing (as I have read it is not swabbable - but I think erring on the side of caution would have to be best). ZGS was a great replacement opposed to bone radial. Now there seems to be two views with it. My previous batches were clear as a bell. And as previously mentioned and from listening, there seems to be doubt - how do you get a clear and concise answer with the ZGS. The latest one purchased from Russell Street, Melbourne - definitely has sports linament on it. I always remember Carole commenting on the two different types and I always went with that. I rang the importer in NSW and they said that there is only one and basically that is it. There is no paperwork in this one opposed to when I use to get it from a mobile supplier (who hasn't been around for a while) and also when I went Warrnambool way, that had a sheet in it with ingredients and diagrams for usage and simple instructions. I get that there is variations in packaging, but I don't get that there is doubt in the variation of the actual product. I wish that there is one hundred per cent clarity. And for some reason I am noticing the "contains alcohol" on side of the box more. The ladies that got the ZGS for me (just here on working holiday and were going for shopping spree in the city), definitely knew about the ZGS and also commented that the product is actually named after the man that created it.

HERES THE FORMULA AS A PHARMACIST IT APPEARS TO BE IN EFFECT A BASIC CAMPHOR MENTHOL PROTOTYPE THE HERBS- YOU BE THE JUDGE IF THEY WORK MANY CHINESE PRODUCTS ENTERING THE USA HAVE INGREDIENTS IN THEM NOT LISTED AND ARE BANNED BY FDA
its saved me from arthritis in the fingers....took it away completely.
And while people think it only works on bone it helped last year when i had a bad case of golfers and tennis elbow....took the pain out in a few days and helped the healing.
As for getting the wrong one....you can tell if its real by the tingle it gives you when you apply it.
