Hi Rex

Post up his liver function test along with a full blood count and kidney function test and you might get some evidence based advice

I'd hate to see all the vet bills a lot of people are chalking up these days ! If you have a strict regular preventative maintenance regime , keep a close eye on your k9 then you rarely need to see a vet ! prevention is better than a cure cos by then it to late & ya k9 is out if action 4 ??? weeks. Vet bills , what vet bills ?

you are what the greyhound racing doesnt need in our sport. vets are a must to trainers and owners,

Again my statements get misinterpereted by people who don't read & understand the subject of the post being commented on b4 shooting off their big mouths & bagging a person that's trying to provide information will help a person in the future. I agree vets are a
requirement of our industry unfortunate things can occur but sometimes they are not required to fix minor illnesses if you have some knowledge on the subject at hand. Micheal !

Read & 100% understand the initial subject of the post being commented on b4 you pass judgement on people trying to lend a hand. But I know that is very hard to do for some people as bagging people is what they do far better than training k9's !

Well I will never understand all this what are people looking for when they talk of liver kidneys thyroids etc these are healthy animals fed right and drug free not too much can go wrong are people looking for a reason why their dog is not up to scratch and can't cut it.I have a prettygood general knowledge of a dogs health I also have a good understanding of how to keep a dog healthy and fit I use B12 at times I use honey or Stockgain and not much else after that from what I actually eat.I don't have blood tests everytime I feel like running off to a doctor and when I do go and he gives me tablets I always read up on them. These drugs etc that you give a dog now could be very detrimental to their life at a later date if they are not PTS a person that is going to take a drug seldom thinks of the end result before they do ...trainers need vets if they can't fix the problem themselves and we must remember in a lot of cases trainers can create the problem they're trying to fix

An important question to ask is...
W-H-Y DO A LOT OF GREYHOUNDS HAVE LIVER AND KIDNEY PROBLEMS???

Stress is the overriding factor in these areas, imo.
The stress of a competitive environment and the fact that they run at gut busting pace in every race.
Having said that, a healthy Greyhounds body should be able to adapt to these conditions.
THE PROBLEM is their system is already in overload because their liver and kidneys are trying to filter and break down the mountains of CRAP that marketing gurus say they need.
The problem starts very early in their lives and then it gets worse as the 'must have' additives and crap FORCED into their system become an impossible task to process with the added stress of racing.

Food for thought.(and less complications)

The reason why a lot of people's k9's succumb to stress related illnesses is cos they have NOT correctly prepared their k9's for the distances that they race em over & have them 100% fit & sound in all aspects of their preparation. post race is where 99% of these stress illnesses occur & the trainers are to blame cos they aren't doing their job as great as they think they are ! put more time into correctly preparing your k9's properly & less time into shooting your mouth off at people who are trying to pass on valuable knowledge gained from mistakes they have made in the past. I can't remember the last time ANY of my k9's succumbed to post race stress issues. LUCK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT MICHEAL , ITS SOMETHING YOU KNOW VERY LITLE ABOUT & THATS CALLED SKILL !

Now that's not very nice, Stevie.
Here I am trying to help and you start shooting your bad mouth off with insults.
You nasty little man.
To insinuate I don't prepare my dogs properly is very very naughty...you have no idea what I put into them...naughty, naughty, naughty.

Read the above post slowlyyyyy.
I'm talking long term gradual effects, not short term misjudgement...they are worlds apart.

I'm glad you view yourself as a very skillful person, Steven, but to slam someone as being without skill, well you are just being a doodlehead now aren't you. Especially when you don't know them from a bar of soap.

From a person who is guilty of self proclamation of feeding electrolytes to your pups and telling people "what vet bills" you are opening yourself up to a hammering on a public forum. I don't see a lot of skill there, buddy.
You betta harden up as it seems you don't like disagreement too much.
Buy yourself a helmet because ya gunna cop heaps on this little billboard.

You have no idea what I do or how I do things so put your foot back in your big mouth.

You r the person who said myself & my k9's need all the luck they can get . So you cast the 1st stone my friend. If I've got a big mouth such as you then we both have got lot of friends ! You started your little vendetta against me if you remember. I'll say no more cos its not worth the effort to reply.

Steve,
Don't take comments or advice as vendettas...

Just sharing a bit of love.

Keep the PERSONAL attacks out of the equation and we'll get on fine.

Steve,
I assure you there is nothing ego driven here.
All good, done deal.

Jack,
Good to know a man of your background agrees.
Yes, only part of the puzzle but I believe a very important one.
Starts at the very beginning and is crucial to the foundations strength or weakening.
Have always leaned towards the 'natural' side of things but have been guilty of being sucked in by the bullshit too.

I've only recently confirmed what the results are of health and function of my experimental babies, who have never had any artificial or 'unnatural' or any commercial food of ANY kind in their entire lives.
They have been broken in, put under pressure and finished a prep.

Perfect scores.

Hi Michael,
Well said.i betcha my left one ,that Rex's problem is not so much what he is feeding but what goes down his dogs throat before or after a race. If Rex was to get a blood test done I wouldn't mind betting his dog has issues with de hydration and electrolyte issues.

Well done Rex. You Know you will be asked what these products are.

There is a very clear message in all this...you can bury your head in the sand or CHANGE.

I would be changing the diet as well to give the organs some relief and giving support treatment.

Good to see you getting off the bandwagon, Rex, don't stop there.

Good thing you went to a vet.
