Hi All....I recently posted about a Bitch I have that has not come into season yet. She is 4 years old in November. I spoke to the original owner tonight and he confirmed that she was never allowed have a season and was always on laurabolin. She has not been on it for the last 6 months since I bought her but she possibly have been on it up till then..

Is there anything I can do to bring her on or how long does it take to get laurabolin fully out of her system as she seems to have been on it for years..

Any advice much appreciated..

Paul, did you try getting her lower back manipulated to help her ?
Give her a double daily dose of vitamin E, too.

Paul laurabolin is one powerful anabolic steroid and is used by many body builders - used continuously on a bitch and never allowing her to have a season could mean that she could become sterile.

Hi Paul we have recently gone through something similar to this..We had a chat to our Greyhound Vet and we ended up forcing a season (cant remember the name of the medication given) in the hope that this would kick start the cycle..

She came on season within a few days and we are now hoping that she will come on season herself next time round!

Who knows...

So James you let her have the season but didn't breed with her, have been told of late of a option where a vet goes in manipulates the ovaries and the bitch came on within 2 weeks was only a 1-2 stitch job key hold surgery. I also have a bitch every time she try's to race got injured strain hock and eventually just smashed it. She has been at my trainers kennel now for over 9 months it's killing em waiting.I think she will get to Christmas then that's it.

Have seen it take up to 18 months for females to come into their seasonal cycle naturally after being on laurabolin for some time. (Worst case scenario)Sometimes you can be lucky & have them cycle after 3-6 months. Sometimes, in extreme cases, they may never cycle. Inducing a bitch into season can often stimulate the bitch to resume her natural cycle. She may not ovulate during the induced season, (sometimes they do & can conceive), however it can assisit in returning things to normal, coming on naturally anywhere between 3 to 9 months later. (Ref Carol, many many years ago I had a bitch manipulaated by Dave Hodgson to enduce a cycle. It happened & she had pups). Good luck

Tried and failed by the looks of things mate.....I kind of wish now we had let her have this season and only have a crack at the 'natural' season if it ever comes!

I've read before there is a product used overseas to bring pigs in season, that they do use also on dogs..it's called PG600.

EXTERNAL LINK

I have a bitch that I bred and will be 3 in Dec and has never ever had a season..it's frustrating but I prefer nature to take it's course, no matter how long I have to wait.

Barry, try getting her lower back manipulated. If that is all that's wrong, you may not have much longer to wait.

My girl rough jet last race was oct 11, she had no gaps in her racing so most of been gavin something the hole time. I dont know much about her befor I got her feb this year in season but this was her 1st litter so I take it was her 1st ever season. So toke 16months from her last race to come on.

Carole was wondering do you think she will come on again feb.

David I don't know what you are getting at. This is not the same Bitch in question and that Bitch I was never going to Breed from and she was the only Bitch in 26 years I ever gave it to and never again as I took her off it after reading some of the comments, So I would appreciate it not to add 2 +2 and come up with 10

I've seen you suggest this many times Carol so I'm going to take your advice and try having her lower back manipulated.
Cheers

There is a hormone injection which will bring your bitch into season, done under the guidance of a Veterinarian it is perfectly safe.

Cabergoline is a hormone to induce estrous in a bitch. It can be done by giving in tablet form. There is also liquid but not as effective as Cabergoline. There are other names for this product such as Galastop, Cabasar, Dostinex. 5mg is given daily from one to 20 days or until 2 days after the onset of proestrus. Another method is using Gonadotropin releasing hormone, but the success rate is not as high as using Cabergoline.

Paul suggest you get your vets advice.

Cabergoline is supposed to be very good and safe. It is quite expensive though.
