All that dog needs is a little drop in class for a confidence boost and a little more time and he'll be fine IMO (a little minor open or A1 should get him back on the right track )
There must be some accomplished trainers out there that can train there dogs to slow up once they hit the front, and let the other dogs catch up a bit, and get the dog to keep an eye on the clock as well, so it doesnt run up in grade.
But dean go watch his races the dog has been kicked around the track in his previous races im not being smart r cheeky but it was the first nite he got on the hare or possibly even seen the hare he was entitled to improve one that stands to mind
Same here Dean u seem not to want to recognise all the trouble dog got in earlier races first night clear run away be goes ! That life Dean nothing sinister its a good fast winner keeps us going makes up for all the disappointments remember nobody getting fortunes at the moment even for A1 dogs
The problem is john we probaly have some good/bad rules here but these muppets CANT enforce the rules. If fact they cant even do anyyhing right.Where is the nrw head of regulations gone?. In job over a month,Did she take over from Pat herbert?. If so where has Mr Herbert gone?. Surely you dont pay 2 people to do the same job?
Time finding is everywhere...1st Race Sat night in Waterford A5/A6 won by 12 Lengths in 28.52..by Dog that lost both his trials

Salad dodger
Peter I agree with most of your post, but Salad Dodger is a bad example to use. Great story for the press and the industry "A5 to derby winner" but in truth if that dog went back to Romford to run over 400 again he wouldn't do open class times. The making of that dog was stepping him up to 480 and getting him away from Romford .
Please note : I am not knocking Romford in fact Romford was one of my favourite tracks in England and had plenty good days and nights there before moving over here

What would use do to make fairer racing
the simple answer to that Peter is enforce the rules (the rules are there in place) it just needs the powers that be to enforce them and if they won't then bring in people that will ... the other thing i would do is bring in an official rule re graded stakes something similar to what john murray brought up in this thread to give owners / trainers with lesser dogs a chance of winning a decent prize ...........if those two things were to happen you'd see such a big change in the game right from breeding to an increase of owners to bigger betting turnover. that's my opinion for what it's worth
