I knew you would know Steven.
So without going back and checking all the other Cup winners, of the two that would make Lady Tornquest the oldest being 3 years and 9 months (a week off 10 months).

Me thinks Lady Tornquest may have been the oldest as she was whelped 1st June 1977, and won the Cup in 1981, but I don't know in which month the cup was held/run
26/3/1981
Yes Steve & David thank you both I was unsure, Colin Wachtel trained for me and told me all about Lady Tornquest who won the Adelaide cup at 4 yr, but I couldnt confirm. I thought AC final was January that year, I was wrong SO Lady Tornquest was near 4 yr when she won AC Sandro another Cigar Kuriarkin

Good guess Graham, but you chose the wrong legend.
David's legend, WEE SAL is the correct answer.
As a "Grand-Dam", Wee Sal was responsible for a couple of handy dogs (lol) who won 8 Group One races between them.
1. Queensland Gold Cup - Hotshow Vintage 2. Topgun - No Intent 3. Silver Chief - Big Daddy Cool 4. Australian Cup - Brett Lee 5. Golden Easter Egg - Brett Lee 6. Maturity Classic - Brett Lee 7. Adelaide Cup - Brett Lee 8. ???????
Question.
What was the "8th" Group One winner & name the event?
Clue. I am a "Bitch" & No, I'm not Hotshow Vintage.

Who am I?
I only ever sired 1 Group winner which was a "Ladies Bracelet" at Wentworth Park.
My full-sister is a Hall-of-Famer.
I was sold to USA after siring over 100 litters.

Your question threw me Graham as BOOMEROO's 1st Group ONE appearance was at Sandown in the Sandown Cup, where he ran 3rd. Bugger.

Spot on Steve.
After winning his heat on May 2nd, 2002, Boomeroo contested the Sandown Cup (his first Group One), the following week, the 9th of May. Starting favourite he finished third, beaten 2 1/4 lengths behind the winner Jennev.
