GREYHOUND GROUP FORMED

At a Public Meeting in the Horse And Jockey last night, a 14 strong Committee was formed to represent the Industry. The primary issue is the problem regarding the Transporting of Greyhounds to the UK. Over 100 people attended the meeting and it was unanimously agreed that changes need to be made making it easier to transport the greyhounds. The committee will liaise with the IGB, ICC and Dept of Agriculture. It is hoped to get a meeting with the Dept early next week as a matter of urgency to see if alterations can be made to the rules.
The committee comprises Owners, Breeders, Trainers, Stud Keepers and Greyhound Transporters.
The new Committee is to be called "THE GREYHOUND GROUP"

Thanks for the feedback Clare. Thanks to all of you who have given up your free time in an effort to address the logistical issues of transporting our hounds.

Has pascal taggert been approached I really feel he would be a serious addition to this group also Dave Cunningham would be a great addition...I really feel the meeting the other nite was more about talking and telling stories no forms were handed out explaining exactly wat the balai certs were and wat effect they were going to have on us and no plan of action was made and no follow up meeting was planned iv been talking to a lot of people who were at the meeting and all said the same that they new as much before the meeting as they did at the end no knocking the meeting or anything just saying it as I see it...PS I would strongly recommend the group contact pascal taggart and bring him on board and also Dave Cunningham...pascal was the driving force behind the industry when it was at its best and we really do need him back....and Dave will I have no doubt work harder than anyone to get us all heard...

An impressive lineup, Pascal would be a great man to come on board... but we all need to come together and get this bill squashed... this effects UK buyers as well so they also need to be heard// This tread needs to be updated daily to keep us all informed, if there is anything we can do collectively im up for it

Quote, I would agree on this part of your post entirely

.I really feel the meeting the other nite was more about talking and telling stories no forms were handed out explaining exactly wat the balai certs were and wat effect they were going to have on us and no plan of action was made and no follow up meeting was planned iv been talking to a lot of people who were at the meeting and all said the same that they new as much before the meeting as they did at the end ,

but I would say Paschal would have no interest what so ever getting involved in this ,

Why did this lot off people stand back and not ask these questions at the meeting

Its as easy to bring it up at the meeting as it is to wait and bring it up on here

the meeting the other night was called in relation to the bali cert issue. I found it informative as I had not got a clue going into the meeting the ins and outs of the issue. People were talking about the problems they encountered. There was plenty of representation from all sectors of the industry with plenty of clout if needed. Dave was also there.

Today members of the greyhound group commitee met with the IGB and ICC to discuss the impact of the Baili cert on the industry and there was consensus that it had to be addressed in its present format and are willing to meet with the dept of agriculture with us this week to see what can be done. We will be proposing self regulation through the IGB and ICC on the traceability of greyhounds travelling between Ireland and the UK giving huge savings to the dept while still adhering to the principles of the directive. We will update again once that meeting has occurred.

Hi Dave,
There were four members of the igb present including the Chairman.
I was not there today due to other commitments but The Greyhound Group had committee members representing stud keepers, owner breeders, transporters and trainers. The I.C.C. and the I.G.B. are aware of the situation and hopefully more progress will be made next week.
