Some more tidbits to add to the rapidly failing dossier.
Cessnock down to trialing one day a week now, Sunday only.
Gosford entrants refused prizemoney share, when races called
off. A week later Wentworth Park races cancelled, and you guessed it, prizemoney shared equally!
When inquired, why not Gosford, told that they stood to lose $25.000 for the day. Go Figure!
The latest track to go under the rippers Maitland, is no guarantee of success.
The only track to survive this latest vandalism, is Dapto,
because the curator refused to let them do it twice, until the
Gestapo tactics were employed, and threats of lost fixtures
was mooted. However he stood firm on one thing, that he finish
the racing service himself, and succeeded. Low and behold the
next meeting the surface was perfect, as was the times.
Lesson...Butt out, and let those more experienced do the work!
Question... Was the sand that caused the problems at the
Gardens, reused at Wenty, and caused its cancellation too!!
Looks as if, we are all sliding down a very sharp razor blade at the moment, and using you know what as brakes!

The supposed contaminated sand is likely to be on someones now contaminated property.

If our major contributor of funding is TABCORP through the TAB distribution via the ICA, why is GRNSW allowing betting agencies to sponsor and/or promote their product through tracks when it appears to me there is a conflict of interest ? Its not a restriction of trade because with Coke Cola v Pepsi or Tooheys v VB its usually an either / or arrangement. Just food for thought.

Another possible issue that GRNSW has is apparently they have preferred tenders. Who are they ? Why ?

We know the salt contaminated sand, has killed, or is killing all the plants trackside at the gardens!

I wonder if CSI tested the water ? If its contaminated and theyre using it on the soccer field ..... they have to test the water, the sand and I suppose the soil around the field and outer grounds.

Some good news! GRNSW have cancelled 2 Non/Tab meetings at Grafton during March. At least they are now listening, Less meetings & more prizeoney please, not more meetings & less prizemoney. Participants concerns being listened to! OR LACK OF NOM"S?

If theyre listening, only 99 more issues to go !

Weve had the Cameron Report (21/22) and Upper House Enquiry Recommendations and both were ignored by the Governments of the day, ALP n Coalition (Lib/Nat) respectively. We had some conferences, but I felt GRNSW hierarchy at the time had already made up their minds as to which way they were headed. I betcha they didnt think theyd be out of a job, lol.

Its a bitter pill to swallow when they have TAB B n C prize money two nights later, but the conundrum is the dog(s) cant get a start and non-TAB is about 2.5 to 3 hours away if Grafton is unavailable.

why cant they (GRNSW) make a decision on Tweed Heads? Waiting on Lismore to go under again?
We could have the BEST FACILITY in NSW! Cant have that OUTSIDE of the Metro Area can we? Build the track, race 2 times a week (1 meeting Border Park 1 meeting Lismore) to easy.

Really, they should make all TAB tracks o/s of Wenty Park, TAB B status. TAB C prize money goes to non-TAB C and Non-TAB D is removed altogether. It then takes away a layer of grading and C prize money is available at non-TAB tracks.

What's happening with Tweed Heads ?? I thought it was closed, sold and ready for development ?

Yes Mark all true! But they have a Nest Egg between 12-15 Million to rebuild a new state of the Art Facility. Qld seem reluctant to commit. GRNSW is GRNSW!! (Give us the MONEY, we know best) Have had plans drawn up for a great facility (One turn track). Need Land approved and race dates, compliance issues, DA's, Costings etc etc and a WILLING STATE RACING AUTHORITY. They should be on hands & Knees placing a Welcome Mat under them. Did I say GRNSW???

So Tweed wont be at Border Park, will it ?

Lismores proposal for something different received a poor response at Council.

No to Border Park racing at Tweed Heads! Murwillumbah? somewhere between Lismore-Billinudgel? New Lismore-Border Park consortium?
Guessing if a new track was to be built! One will close? Lismore, Casino, Grafton. Lismore Council meeting was about the extra 20 weekend meetings proposed. Was passed

Murwillumbah is flood-proned ! Last year or year before during the floods, the water at the tbred race track was 3/4 up the winning post. Please do better than that location.

From a S/E Qld perspective, Beaudesert seems like a great place if the council approves anything / everything. It could be a Centre of Excellence!

I heard along the grapevine that the `powers that be' want to sell the Pet Motel and (get this) buy about eight Greyhound Retirement Villages......

So far, the Pet Motel has cost the participants about $1.8 million and now they want to buy eight !! Please Mr Mestrov and Board, tread warily and treat our money with respect. Eight retirement villages would cost a fortune.

However, I like that he is thinking about retired dogs. To begin with, what about housing retired dogs in kennels that are registered with GRSNSW and are suitable for retirees ? There has been a downturn recently (thank you LIB/NAT) and not many kennel complexes are full. What about looking after some of our loyal participants who wish to stay on that little bit longer with a 50/50 split from owner and GRNSW over three years to pay for dogs at already established premises ? Food for thought. Any suggestions ?

Also, the Centre of Excellence (C of E) Model seems like a costly exercise so there is push for the Hub and Racing Spoke Model. The C of E means tracks will close and the LIB/NAT don't want that to happen before the election in March 2019 do they ?

The price for each C of E has been quoted at around $1 million for about 16 tracks. Therefore, about $16 million. We know what that amount means from the LIB/NAT. It means budget blowout to about $25 million. It further means that about 17 tracks will be gooooone forever ! We have new business people on the Board with only limited experience about the industry. I'm very concerned about the next 12 months.

well if they started to promote greyhound racing and greyhounds as pets too then it would make many more people wanting to keep retired greyhounds as pets.

but that must surely be far too hard to figure out by the people in charge who are on big bucks yeah?

maybe there should be a campaign to make the government match the cash they spent on their ads they ran with after banning greyhound racing that were full of lies towards the promotion of greyhounds as being wonderful pets.

Terry,

Just a small point. In Qld, there is no "nest egg". That was simply a post-Parklands promise. Any $10m will have to come out of the overall budget, which would first need majority support.

In NSW, at least the capital funding has been approved. What to do with it is up to the new board and top management, most of whom have no industry experience.

Bruce
The Nest Egg I mentioned was from the sale of the Border Park complex. Nothing to do with RQ. Qld was approached in regards to building a track on their side of the border. Absolutely nothing to do with Parklands. But would have filled the Void had RQ had any VISION WHAT SOEVER!

Terry,

Got that. But I am puzzled. Border Park was privately owned so I presume you are talking about a possible deal between the owners and either or both of GRNSW and RQ. I am aware there were many discussions but I have no idea what they involved.

Of course, there was the nonsensical concept floated a few years ago by GRNSW/Hogan that the track and operations would be shifted into Qld jurisdiction - but not physically. That had many supporters including the then RQ mob who reckoned they could insert it into the Sunday BGC slot. Hogan claims he is a lawyer but he must have been out of the class when they talked about the umpteen legal and constitutional barriers to that happening, plus the fact that TABCORP has an agreement allowing it to conduct betting there (Tatts does not and cannot).
