Trap 1 - 1
Trap 2 - 0
Trap 3 - 0
Trap 4 - 1
Trap 5 - 3
Trap 6 - 3

Outside traps get an advantage yesterday?
Any thoughts?

Charlie - Wimbledon fares better than Shelbourne despite Shelbourne being a far superior track. Trap winners in the English (E) and Irish (I) Derby's since 2011 (i.e from both tracks current traps) :-

T (E) (I)
1 19% 29%
2 17% 17%
3 16% 14%
4 16% 11%
5 12% 15%
6 21% 14%

hardly surprising bill , no one here wants to seed their dog middle or wide for some reason , i wouldn't mind betting more than half the trap 1 winners would be seeded at least middle if running in England

Charlie - The seeding point is complex as if Middles seed Rails then true Railers have less chance of getting Trap 1 and that is a potential for more trouble on the inside.

I am sure you know that in Open racing games are played with seeding over here. RM's have the power to override a Trainer's chosen seeding but if the Trainer argues the case they sometimes give way.

Since the new traps were installed at Shelbourne in 2011 the bias which used to be against Trap 1 swung dramatically in favour of Trap 1 to the point where around 27% of 525/550 winners in 2015 were from that Trap. I think that the current Traps changed the bias but I can understand that pre 2001 Trainers seeded to avoid Trap 1 and they now seed to seek it and this exaggerates the natural bias.

At Wimbledon many do not like the fact that the inside Trap is very close to the inner rail but it still gets slightly more than its fair share of winners although the recent exaggerated bias has been down to the going on the night.
