All About Flynn...winner with Good News second and Jumeriah Bran third. None were sold at the sales according to info on a recent post.

Winner was by Groupie Doll...a great race bitch.

Winner of B grade final: Crinkill Mike (unsold, according to post above)

In fairness to Good News, he ran a good race in defeat, after being turned sideways at the first bend.

If these Sales Stakes are to continue, I would suggest that only dogs SOLD at the sales are allowed run in Stakes.

Because some had ridiculous reserves with probably the intentions that they don't get sold , but will still be entitled to enter the stakes

I believe the objective of this stake was to promote the sale of dogs for owners/breeders and give new owners a chance to recoup some of the costs via prizemoney. I would imagine the criteria for entry into the stake next year will be amended.

If I paid a 5 figure sum for a dog at the sales and got beat by a dog with a 6 figure reserve that wasn't sold, then even with the best sportsmanship in the world I'd probably feel a bit hard done by. In fact, if I was beaten by any dog that was unsold at the sales (regardless of the reserve) then I think I would still feel a little hard done by.

I think the issue for me is one of intention. If a dog was entered with no intention of selling but simply to enter a big stake through the back door then this is a loophole that needs remedying. Bit of a weak pitch for a Sales Race if the winner was intentionally unsold?

Intention is very difficult to measure. Even if it was confined to dogs 'sold' at sales that still leaves a loophole for folk to 'buy' their own dogs through a friend. Not sure how to tighten the criteria.

The criteria is simple Lynda, Dogs are entered into the sale with a reserve price WRITTEN down. After trials, This reserve can be reduced but not increased. Once this reserve price is reached then the dog is sold to the highest bidder (friend or foe). ONLY dogs actually sold can compete in the stakes. All dogs to be paid for on the day commission included. SIMPLE
