Non-TAB's to disappear

Yep. They've been trying for 20 years as we know Sandro, but the volunteers always stepped up.

The only way to close the gates is to starve the food chain from the top.

If country tracks (& they will suffer first) can't program a weekend of racing, where is the income going to come from to pay the rent.

You better start saving your penny's as only the strongest (if any) will survive.

The only way Steve, is to move the city to the outskirts and the regional areas to house TAB racing and race more than once per week at each track

Can't see any other way myself....Wenty has to eventually go for the rest to survive

Stevo,

This Monday - 4x520m, 1x600m, 3x395m, and 2x331m.
Yep, we now have 331m races on Monday...well, well, well, it's not a good look forward, is it.
What makes that worse is they had to extend noms 3 TIMES even to get those.

It's on the verge of critical Michael.
What I've been warning about lately is the current GRADING SYSTEM here in Qld.
Soon there won't be a need to grade dogs from distances 520m & above because there wont be enough dogs to consider for those distances.

And it won't be long before the FIRST 395m "5th Grade" will be the norm on a Thursday night....THE PREMIER NIGHT OF RACING.

Actually....this time next year at Albion Pk on a Thursday night, I predict the following will be a usual race meeting.

520m

4 x 5Gd.
1 x 3/4Gd.
1 x Best 8.

600m
1 x Best 8.

395m (A new Grading system will need to be introduced for the distance as it's a Class 1 track).
2 x 5Gd.
1 x 4/5Gd.

If we're lucky, one race every month maybe substituted by a 710m race.

Next years Qld National Sprint & Distance series will be reduced.

520m x 3 heats.
710m x Best 8.

Personal I'm a traditionalist Sandro, & I'll weep like a baby the day Wenty closes (just like I did with Hpk) & I'm sure you will too (probably even bigger lol), but it's inevitable like say you.

Baird-Brain, (and his team) will get his last wish, but it will cost em.

Hubs of excellence will be concentrated on (not all will agree) but that's the way of the future, now that the industry has been starved to a degree.

The perimeters that have been put in place & have worked with ease.

It's to late for the industry to be ignited again, but it won't be all loom & gloom with a totally different outlook regarding these "Hubs" (mainly in NSW), especially those that don't need to relocate.

Now that we've lost that race, my main concern now concentrates on the lack of breeding over the last 24 months.

It's down by 62% (7,500 pups whelped per year) when compared to the last 20 year average of 18,000 pups whelped per year.

Personally I believe 9 to 10,000 pups should be capped and encouraged per year, to make the industry viable & fair.

Without those numbers, the grading's won't be sustainable.

I tend to "flick the page" regarding these races when it comes to punting Steve.

9 races on the night are 520m which is great but 8 of them are 4Gd, 4/5Gd or 5Gd.

The grading system needs tweaking to increase 1st, 2nd & 3rd Grade races.

Just like on queue.

Concentrate on the bottom & work your way to the top.

Country racing now, officially, has a noose around its neck.

Now introduce mostly bias blah blah blah new rules & regulations, which we're seeing now & that should start to choke a few in the remaining food-chain, leaving those that are in to deep & have no choice, but to salute the rulemarkers or lose everything.

The end result will be just one State or a combined area of States that lay close together, that can be regulated & run with the stroke of a pen.

Forget about waiting for the next election . The time to act and demonstrate is now.

Your very so much right, Bill why are we waiting?? Our admin just paid out hundreds of thousands to 2 uni's in nsw to run studies "chasing/track designs", already we hear of one club in vic taking on-board ,and making relative changes , now our own gardens is to carry out same, but very hard to find details of what they are ?/ Your quiet right we have to push at the top, and unfortunately that means , starting with a politician,, and they dont respond to much as they have a different way of operating than what we expect . Look at what the thoroughbreds have been able to do expanding their country racing , drawing more people to be interested, and clubs that used to lack tab meets now have several more than ever. I say we need to get the pollies to educate our own administrators to listen /and learn from within the industry ,before we spend more and more of our coffers on employing commissioners ,what for Iam still awaiting answers from within, The bright sparks just sent two people on a holiday around the country side to decide and ask on what can be done to get more noms for tracks, well done , where are they from,?? Yes its a tight corner ,we are trying to fight our our way out of, but we need to use every avenue that we have , and even reminding the sitting members of our intentions is ,if only little at a time putting them in the picture, we do need to paint for them , that we are really in control, of their future as well, only by keeping no's up to their face will show them, Bob Glover

Qld nom's carried over twice yesterday for Monday's Meeting 16/10
again 331 mtr races along with 395 mtr races to make up a card.
Casino Friday 6 Heats of time Honoured "Pop Northfield". Usually takes up a FULL MEETING. Nth, Rivers is the biggest nursery for Pups in NSW. How much longer can our Administrators keep their heads buried in the sand?
Bet they are working feverishly on the next roll out of Licence Fees! and service charges.

Its only a short term fix but maybe they should get Monday night at Albion Park meetings moved forward by at least an hour. This may entice people who have to travel to nominate.Maybe getting home at midnight is more appealing than 1or2 in the morning.

Is the lack of breeding a sad way of people basically saying we are reluctantly winding back to exit the industry.Or simply a lack of confidence and that wont change without leadership and some drastic rethink on how participants are treated and financial incentives which in new south looks like it will never eventuate.Despite what the alliance promised when it dropped its campaign(showed there real motivations)?
