Forget about waiting for the next election . The time to act and demonstrate is now.
Remember that saying HE WHO HESITATES IS LOST. Well we are very quickly heading down the road of no return.

We have chances in the Seats of Monaro and Cootamundra. It's political so small steps will help.

The GBOTA only looks after their members.

The GRNSW has its agenda and is reducing greyhound racing in NSW.

The SFF Party with the 'balance of power' will do their best to make the industry viable and accountable.

Only 8 races @ Potts Park and only 7 @ Lithgow.

I've never seen it like this before. Normally plenty of dogs that don't get a run.

It's disgusting what those in charge have done to this industry.

No shortage at the T'Bred races today. I saw 17 or so in a Victorian country race. Half of them had no chance.

Where are the high almighty antis now ? They won't take on the T'Bred Industry in a big way. How many govt officials are out at Randwick today ?

Only one Victorian dog in the Vic Peters Memorial Classic

Kembla on Saturday had a couple of 3 horse fields

Given the large boost to country/regional racing prize money its a poor showing

There's definitely going to be a 'lull' in nominations.......but breeding is improving........and TAB takings are up.

I'm thinking things may get worse........before it gets better.

But it will get better.

Michael,

49 nominations for a Country Cup sounds pretty healthy to me. Lots of class dogs as you would expect. Could have run 6 full field heats with one reserve but have decided to give all noms a start which is fair enough. Congrats to Geelong will be a great final.

.
Every other track, Friday/Saturday had about 14 in every race eg Cessnock, Coffs, Albury, Forbes Kembla was a surprise.
.
NSW greyhounds are struggling with nominations. We were the first to take on the Ban and become heavily regulated. The plan by the Government is working. "There is no better time than now, to breed with your broodmare." Troy Grant said it or something similar in about 2015.

Now when summer begins, the traditional 5 horse fields running for $100,000 per race in Sydney will start gain

It's about six weeks away. Anyone with a horse with a low benchmark would be mad not to race through the summer period. Victoria doesn't seem to have problems attracting nominations for two of the three codes.

At least all three will be guaranteed prizemoney.

We all acknowledge there is, or will be a problem, but
the only ones that can change it is us participants.
Continually putting repetitive comments isn't really helping
anything other than us all agreeing with each other.
The only way to boost numbers is to breed more pups.

That is easy to say.

Try and rehome a litter of 8 pups that are finished with their racing career and you aren't going to breed with.

Have you got room for 8 pets?

That is the big issue in this sport and why breeding numbers won't go up in big licks

We have been criminalized in breeding dogs that won't have a home, however, our friend from the RSPCA can sit on our Board and criticize the industry for lack of foresight/management when that same organization kills off over 30,000 pets per annum just in this state.

Who are the criminals?

Yes, but what is the solution Sandro?

Breed more pups, walk away, or try to do the best
we can with the obstacles we have. A positive approach is better than a negative one as this will achieve nothing.
We may as well "die trying" than not try at all.

I am not saying not to breed more.

But the decision to breed by each breeder has to have a serious consideration for the consequences of each dog they breed.

That's what I meant, and it's that thought and the persecution of potentially putting a healthy dog to sleep because it wasn't fast enough, that is stopping the breeders and owners from acquiring more dogs.

Owners won't buy if they can't look after/sell/dispose of the dog at the end of its career, most breeders won't breed if they can't sell a fair % of their pups

Hell, when you here some large breeders tell us that they have cut breeding down by 50%, you have to take some notice of that.

I gather that they are breeding what they think they may be able to offload/keep at some point.

We can only hope that at some point the numbers will balance out, but by then the industry will have shrunk a great deal because a lot of participants will be fed up with all the rules and restrictions being placed on them
