It was with great relief that we heard the news following a meeting of the Irish Greyhound Board today that the proposal to move the Irish Cesarewitch from Mullingar to Galway will not be going ahead in 2019
On behalf of Mullingar GOBA I would like to thank all the politicians in the midlands area that we contacted over the past few days for their support in helping to keep the Cesarewitch at Mullingar Greyhound stadium.

Good news for your track - as soon as you start losing the big events you are on a slippery slope, as we have found to our cost on this side of the water. Local support and enthusiasm is key if the industry is to move forward so well done to you.
I have a runner in the Fair Warrior Final tomorrow night but can't make it across unfortunately - fingers crossed anyway.
Would owners and trainers please note owing to inclement weather conditions todays trialling session at Mullingar Friday 1st of Feb has been cancelled.
Mullingar Greyhound Stadium are delighted to announce a new sponsor for the Irish Cesarewitch. Larry Clancy had been a life time supporter of the track and the greyhound industry. He had many entries in the Cesarewitch down through the years but his greatest achievement was when Lively Band won the Irish Derby in 1974. With an increase in prizemoney, this year will see the winner take home 7,000. We are delighted Larrys family have chosen to sponsor such an event and look forward to this new partnership. Entries are now been accepted for this event which begins on 20th April.
