There might be a perfectly good explanation. I've had a dog that raced at 31kg then weighed in a fortnight later 30.2 due to a change of meat and routine, but 1 trainer turned up 5 minutes before kennels closed with all their dogs overweight so it was decided that the scales were faulty and no weights were taken for the meeting. Anyway 27 days later the dog weighed in 29.9 and was considered 1.1 down from his last start because no weights were taken his last start therefore he last started 31kg less than 28 days earlier. Long story short due to the technicality they let me weight trial him before the 1st without fineing me which was good of the stewards, only problem was that the dog trialled 2 tenths quicker than the race he was in breaking down in the straight.

realise this, that's why I was wondering instead of leaving field short, give him a fine and let him compete.
