Surely with this new central parcs complex up the road supposedly Irelands.top tourist destination and only just open isnt closing track a bit premature ?

Feel free print off some copies to give to any politicians in attendance or send them the link above.

If you need the information in any other format then you can contact me at [email protected]

I wish you all the best in your efforts.

Thank you to everyone who came to the meeting last night. The bar was packed with supporters from all over the country. All with one goal in mind...to save Longford track. The facts of our situation were laid out and a lively discussion followed.
One thing is clear LONGFORD TRACK WILL NOT CLOSE WITHOUT A FIGHT! With full knowledge of the risks involved it has been decided to fundraise to keep racing going, We will be asking for a 200 contribution (or more if you like!) from interested parties. This is how we raised the money 2 years ago.
Time is of the essence as there are expenses that will have to be paid almost immediately to keep racing going. Details will be announced later for how you can help. Thank you again to all who have supported the track!

Tina, I couldn't have but it better myself, great to see the support, and great to see a lot of old familiar faces that I haven't seen in awhile, We appreciate the donations given so far, and those yet to come, not matter how big or small, give what you can, ITS BETTER TO FIGHT WITH THE GATES OPEN, THAN CLOSED< Cheers to all Noel Costello

Totally agree Noel, I think any donations big or small would be greatly appreciated. If there are people who can't afford to give 200 euro then give what you can and if you can afford more then give more. Every donation at this stage is vital to keep the doors open

**Message from the LONGFORD TRACK SUPPORTERS CLUB:**

Longford Track Supporters Club Fundraiser:

At a meeting held at the track on August 15th a survival plan for the future of Longford Greyhound Stadium was discussed. Over 100 people from all over Ireland attended and heard that basically there are 2 options for the track:

* Close down on Friday August 23rd
or
* Deal with the urgent issues raised by the Fire Officer and other financial requirements by raising funds immediately.

It is estimated that if we raised 25,000 in the next 2 weeks that racing at the track could continue to October.
It was clearly pointed out that raising these funds will NOT guarantee that racing will continue after October. The track will also require a further 20,000 to survive after that.
Basically its a big gamble, but faced with the other option of closing immediately those in attendance decided unanimously to fight for the future of the track. The Longford Track Supporters Club have formed a fundraising committee with the aim of raising 25,000 as soon as possible. This figure is easily attainable as the goodwill is there. We are asking owners, trainers and anyone with an interest in the track to contribute 200 to the fund.

How can you help?
Give your contribution to any of the following people at the track:
Ann Breslin, Sinead McKenna, John Ryan, Noel Costello, Tina McGrane, Keeley McGee or Michael De Ward.

2. Bank transfer the money to the following account:
Name: Longford Track Supporters Club,
IBAN IE52 BOFI 90483566883934
BIC BOFI IE 2D
Sort code 90-48-35

3. Contribute through our Go Fund Me page (Save Longford Greyhound Stadium) EXTERNAL LINK
4. Send cheque to payable to Longford Track Supporters Club to Tina McGrane ℅ Longford Greyhound Stadium, Park Road , Longford.

Time is of the essence so act now if you want to help
Thank you

Longford may not be one of the biggest tracks in the country, but it is definitely one of the safest. We moved to the area 12 years ago and asked was there a schooling track near, no there is not, but we don't need one because we have a extremely well maintained track where the hare driver knows how to drive the hare to school pups. It's a community, a local track where every one knows everyone. Where we school pups and start them off on their career. We cannot loose this track. Please keep donating .

How much will the IGB save by Longford closing?

I believe Longford get a grant of 40k pa and Paddy said at the meeting that the projected prizemoney for the year was about 140k. This is a drop in the ocean compared to the 16 million from the govt and the 10 million on employee wages.
