Dick

Hopefully, the Courts will see through this stitch up of your sport and sanity will prevail to reverse this abomination

It is a long shot, but it isn't no shot. The state will have 20 days to respond and then after that the court will decide whether to hear the case or not.

We waited to many years before there was an all out effort to fight them and by that time it was to late. they got people to believe what they said because we did a poor job of responding.

G2K is already in West Virginia and will try to get racing banned there in 2020. Of course they never ban racing, all they ever ban is wagering on racing because they don't care if a greyhound gets hurt lure coursing or even if a greyhound gets hurt in a race at a regular track as long as there is no wagering on the dogs.

G2K tells people greyhound wagering is banned in 41 states, but the reality is only 1 state has ever banned dog racing and that is Idaho. The ban is on any dog racing for any purpose and so it isn't greyhound specific.

Hi Dick

I am probably stating the obvious but why can't racing operate in those States where it is not banned and racetracks organize to get funding from on-line gambling sites for prizemoney etc

Surely on-gambling operators would love to have the content to bet on

There has to be more than one way to skin a cat

Sandro,

That is a possibility if some track or tracks wanted to do it. I've done the numbers from wagering at the track and wagers made at the Florida tracks from online and about 60 percent of the wagers are made online.

When the time comes we'll see if any track elects to do this.

While G2K lies about wagering being down we know that Florida handled over 500 million dollars in 2018 and nationwide the handle is about 725 million dollars.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I would like to thank people from all over the world for their support on various U.S. sites.

The way I look at it Dick

how does a State Government in the USA stop Florida gamblers betting on-line on greyhounds?

They need to take a leaf out of how the funding of the sport operates here in Australia....betting operators pay royalties and a % of turnover/profit for the right to use the race fields

Rich,

There isn't much that people can do from outside the U.S. The group that spearheaded this fight is Support Working Animals.

EXTERNAL LINK
They are set up as a 501-c-4 non-profit and as such they can't accept donations from foreign countries.

The important thing is for all countries to keep fighting the radical groups whose end game isn't to just end greyhound racing, but to end pet ownership in general.

We all should remember these groups are not advocates for animals they are really advocates against animals, but you can't say you are against animals and get donations.

The heads of most if not all of these groups are/were members of ALF. Some have continued their outward radical was, like PETA, and others like the HSUS and Grey2K decided 15 or 20 years ago to go mainstream and blend into society.

Here in the U.S. and I'm sure in other countries these "leopard" groups appear to the average person to want to help greyhounds, horses, circus animals and farmers of cattle, sheep, pigs etc., but the leopard will never change its spots.

If the court decides to hear the case it may be a help to all countries because if the Grey2K and HSUS people have to testify under oath will be helpful to all countries.

It's amazing how Christine's story about getting hit by a train and her dog Kelsey pulled her away from getting a direct hit changed to, under oath, she doesn't remember if Kelsey was there.

There is no record of a dog in the police report. The engineer testified under oath that he never saw a dog. Christine says she doesn't remember, yet in her heart wrenching story to play on the emotions of people to collect donations the dog was not only there, but got hit and needed a hip replacement.

Take care,

Dick

Dick

I simply cannot wrap my hands around why this specific action
was not addressed in New England right from the onset.

Jobs were loss from kennel to the track, revenue was lost for the states- behind the scene crap and a well oiled nonsense attack
made the sport extinct.

Does TS,WD, and Sl simply say screw it?
What's next horse racing - dog racing went before cock fighting?

Paul,

While I don't have an answer to your question about New England I guess one possibility is either not the right lawyer or being in uncharted waters everyone was flying by the seat of their pants.

Maybe 10 or 11 years later we have NE to look back on and learn from what might have been mistakes.

Plus, the last couple of years Raynham was still doing decent business, but the owner of Wonderland was hanging on hoping for slots. The place was run down and there was no advertising so people didn't even know they were still running.

As far as Tri-State and Wheeling I know people are working hard right now for the legislative fight coming next year and I don't know if Southland is in any trouble next year as it looks like G2K will go after TS and Wheeling.

Dick is it true Carey won't debate publicly on greyhound matters.

Surprised to read the following comment after the Dublin cancellation.

a joint statement, Grey2k and the Irish Council Against Blood Sports said they would not be deterred or bullied by those complaining. The statement criticised the online campaign against the conference as an attempt to silence public debate

There is no debate with GREY 2K
Or their new found "advocates" in Ireland.
IT'S BAD NEWS OR NO News simple as that.

Martin,

It is Mr. John Parker that keeps challenging Carey to an open and honest debate. At least three times in the past couple of months the challenge has been issued with not only no response from Carey, but one of the times John issued the challenge right on G2K's FB page. Carey answered that challenge by deleting the post and banning John.

John saw the same thing you did with Carey talking about the silencing about public debate.

John challenged again and as usual no answer from Carey.

To all the G2K trolls that lurk on this website, why don't you ask Carey to debate John. Wouldn't you like to see Carey destroy John with the truth?

Carey won't debate because he has no control over what happens and make no mistake G2K need to control things or they will be seen for what they are, frauds.

I did this in 2014.

Grey2K and Censorship
by
Dick Ciampa

As history has shown again and again, individuals or groups that set out to control other people do so by strictly controlling their flow of information. Nothing outside their control can be communicated, because other sources might offer alternate or even opposing points of view, which cannot be tolerated when your goal is to control the minds of others.

Since its inception in 2000, Grey2K has devoted itself to carefully crafting what you see and what you read. They produce materials that would impress propagandists, and then cite those same materials as credible references in other materials they produce. The result is an impressive looking list of links and footnotes to materials that, not surprisingly, are always in complete agreement.

They are also fond of citing their friends, organizations such as the HSUS and the ASPCA, whom most people have heard of, but often know less about than they think. They are familiar names, and like Grey2K, very effective at designing their communications to cultivate a specific set of beliefs and to maximize emotional response in aid of donations. They are all fundraising machines.

To control your beliefs and keep donations rolling in, Grey2K will show you pictures of an unhappy looking greyhound and carefully word a caption to imply it is the norm in the greyhound industry. These photos are, in fact, usually one of two things: an extremely rare, but real instance of abuse (their current favorite dates back to 2010), or, a photo that has been recast, by careful captioning, to something other than what it is. The internet has provided a well-exploited opportunity for Grey2K to copy photos without permission. A tired brood mom might be characterized as neglected and downtrodden, when in fact, as every mother knows, early motherhood is a tiring time, and not a sinister one. But images of apparent neglect or suffering sell, and that translates into generous donations by a well-intentioned but overly-trusting audience.

An estimated 200,000 retired racing greyhounds have been adopted over the past 10 years. Overwhelmingly these greyhounds were adopted because they make wonderful pets. These athletes have been retired because their careers were over, mostly due to slowing down, some due to injury, which needs to be better understood.

Bearing in mind these are high performing athletes, a small injury will be taken seriously, and the response will depend on many factors. To take a simple example, a greyhound that breaks his toe at two years old will be rehabilitated and back racing in a couple of months. A three and half year old greyhound with the same injury will be retired since he is near the end of his career and its time for a couch.

In the controlled world of Grey2K this injury contributes to a pie chart as a career ending injury. The term career ending injury sounds serious and it is easy to intentionally suggest all these injuries are catastrophic. Ironically, if, instead of retiring the older dog with a broken toe, the dog had been brought back to run a few races and then retired, he would not have contributed to the pie chart. But that would not be in the best interest of the dog. In this and so many other instances, responsible actions by those in the racing industry are used against them to mislead a generous but gullible donor community.

Unlike Grey2K, I and most others in the greyhound industry would like those who are sincerely interested in greyhounds to see for themselves what goes on. There are many opportunities through adoption groups and other organizations to visit greyhound farms, and to have a guided visit at a track.

Has Grey2K, in their controlled messaging, ever told you to go see for yourself? They cant and they wont because what you will see and experience will not agree with their carefully crafted message. Grey2K is all about control. Any post to their Facebook page from someone among a growing number of pro-racing adopters or someone in the greyhound industry is immediately deleted and that person banned.

Grey2K ensures everything you read and see is under their control. Their salaries depend on it, as do their trips across the country and the around world.

There are bad people in all walks of life and the greyhound industry is no exception; however, the good far outnumber the bad. How else could it be that so many greyhounds adapt so easily to retirement? Overwhelmingly they are fit, happy, well socialized dogs. If everything Grey2K claimed was wrong with the greyhound industry were true, the American greyhound would be extinct.

People in the industry are not the only ones to be vilified. Adoption folks who have taken the time to inform themselves and determined that there is good in racing have been described by Grey2K as traitors. That is the language of an autocracy. Last time I checked, we live in one of the strongest democracies in the world.

The difference between Grey2K and those of us who love racing is that we dont want to control you. I want you to follow the facts down whatever path they take you. I want you, I urge you, to go to see the greyhounds growing up at a farm, to watch some live racing, and to understand what happens before and after those races. There you will learn the truth.

Has Grey2K ever asked you to find out for yourself? The truth should always prevail and I am not afraid of what you will find. Can the same be said of Grey2K?

While Grey2K wasnt around when Robert F. Kennedy was alive, RFK could have been looking right at Grey2K when he said:

What is objectionable, what is dangerous about extremists is not that they are extreme, but that they are intolerant. The evil is not what they say about their cause, but what they say about their opponents.
