A payment of 2 per day will be made in respect of each active greyhound currently registered on the IGBs Racing Management System. This includes greyhounds that have raced or had an official trial at any IGB licenced greyhound track in the previous 42 days. The 42 days is part of the statutory racing regulation within which a greyhound is permitted to trial/race. The 10% remittance to public trainers will continue to apply with respect to the greyhound care payment.

The scheme does not require any application by owners/trainers for the special payment as this will automatically be processed on a fortnightly basis similar to the current arrangements for prize money payments. The scheme will come into effect from 8th April 2020 when the final prize money payments have been made. The scheme will be reviewed after one month of operation and in the event that restrictions arising from the Covid 19 pandemic remain in place.

The IGB has also announced that following discussions with the Irish Coursing Club (ICC) that the fee for registering new litters of greyhounds within 14 days of whelping will be waived. The IGB will recoup to the ICC the cost of this measure. This approach will ensure that an element of the costs associated with breeding activity will not apply during the current crisis. This will assist in ensuring the system for breeding and registering of greyhounds continues to be supported.

If there are 4000 dogs in the pool it will cost 56 K a week to support if my maths are correct.

But lose much more from no attendances or tote profits. People need to realise we may not see racing for months. Its a disaster for anyone with dogs but it would be irresponsible to fire all the funds at it in the short term.

Plus the IGB wage bill is slightly short of 200 K weekly.

Are they employees of igb let go and on the 350 a week or are they still employed.

I think the payment should be welcomed.

Yes it's not enough to feed a dog on the best of grub. But your dog is not their responsibility but yours.

People need to give over with the negativity and complaining in my opinion

I agree with you shay
Now I don't want to offend anyone by putting people into different groups as we are all greyhound people
But all I'm reeding is the IGB are giving nothing to the breeders but at the end of the day if you are only a breeder then you have to be making money from breeding if you are not racing as well
It's the man that is racing that is taking the most risks as there is no sure money from racing and at the end of the day we are lucky to be getting anything from the IGB as from yesterday they have closed all stakes that had gone one , two and three rounds and are going to share out a quarter, a third or half the original prize money between all the dogs left in the stake and if that's not bad enough there's the four dogs that broke the 29 second barrier in the ON3 stake in Waterford they will have to race against proper A3 dogs when they resume racing so we all have our own things to complain about which of our problems is the worst

Igb should never have prioritized one dog to the next this leaves them open to scrutiny from people involved in the industry and our beloved antis this really shouldn't be about the owner breeder or trainer but more the dogs at home and I believe every dog should be regarded as equal priority to everyone involved in the industry and its governing body, I believe its better to give nothing at all then give to a selected few, I don't believe paying out money is the correct thing either nut vouchers based on the numbers of dogs per kennel would be a far better idea...we all understand we are facing difficult times this is not a dig at igb or anyone for that matter we are all in this mess together and we all need to come out of it together and when we do we all need to unite and remember what we came through and rebuild our sport to new heights and never let it sink again we have a huge task on our hands lads and it's gonna take everyone of us to work as a team to get our sport back...

COVID-19 CARE PAYMENT SCHEME CONDITIONS AND FURTHER UPDATE
IGB

Owners and Trainers are advised of the following conditions and update regarding Covid -19 Greyhound Care payments due to be processed.

- The payment is applicable to all greyhounds that have raced or trialled at an IGB licensed Stadium from the period of February 11th 2020 to March 24th 2020 (inclusive).

- Greyhounds that have raced or trialled in Drumbo or Derry but not at an IGB licensed Stadium in this period will not qualify for the Covid -19 Payment as they would not have been in receipt of IGB Prizemoney in such circumstances.

- All Transfers of Ownerships must be promptly notified to the Irish Coursing Club to permit payment being paid to the new registered owner.

- Should the Owner and Public Trainer of a greyhound elect to have care payments directed to the trainer, the onus is on both parties to have the required paperwork completed and sent to the Regulation Department, well in advance of April 9th when payments will be made. Retrospective payments cannot be accommodated.

- Owners and Trainers should notify the IGB of the export of any greyhound that is eligible for the Covid -19 Payment Scheme, such as those registered in the United Kingdom. Similarly all transfer of ownerships and greyhound deaths should be appropriately registered with the Irish Coursing Club.

- The IGB will be in regular contact with the ICC and GBGB to update relevant records

- The Greyhound Care Payment is being made to ensure the care and welfare of racing greyhounds in order to prepare such greyhounds for the resumption of greyhound racing

- Failure to comply with the above provisions may affect future payments assigned to persons who fail to carry out such notifications.
Further information regarding the Scheme can be obtained by email to [email protected] or by contacting 061 448150
