Hi All, Just had a phone call from GRNSW,since the introduction of the new Dogs Website,they are contiually working with their IT team & are updating & changing aspects of it. My question re deleting dogs/trainers from my Blackbook was resolved very quickly," when your'e selected dogs/ trainers appear in your'e Blackbook,on the far right there are 2 tabs,one is a pen,the other is a X,simply tap on X to delete item from you're Blackbook. The Pen is to add comments & also to change your'e notifications . As you all know,i have given my share of " stick"to GRNSW at time's, but i must say to be fair,the call i recieved today has re-enforced my faith in them,so hats off to them.Also ,they are encouraging people with any concerns with the New site,to give them a ring,& they will be more than happy to help,( they are currently having an IT issue with the email address that is on their contacts page ),this is also being addressed as well.

I am sure everyone will see changes & more updates until they are completely happy & satisfied with their new site that they are giving us.

G'day Sandro, There is 2 ways mate,if you know the name of the dog,go to search ( top right of home page ),type the name in & it will give you the whole greyhounds history & you can add it by tapping on " add to Blackbook " tab on the top left hand of that page,or,when you go to fields & form page for races,you can add a greyhound that way too.Hope this helps mate.

Darryl, Its great that they are responsive to feedback and doing improvements, for sure.
I think the main point in all of this is the new site should never have been released until it was fully functional. There was no need to show a half baked soggy cookie...it's not professional and for the most, it's response from the majority is terrible.
My suggestion...Take it down, leave the old site up until they have sorted all the bugs with the new one and everyone is happy.
There's no rush...the old site works fine.
It's just common sense.

G'day Michael,i tend to agree mate, but i was told that before they put the new site up,it was "trialled & looked over " by a number of greyhound people & on the whole,they liked it,but also ,some changes & tweaks need to happen,( no names were mentioned ),so as time go's on,i'm sure we will adapt to it. I think part of the problem is that most people ( including myself ),don't like change,especially when we are used to something that we our adept with.

As for participants trialling and looking over it, I doubt any were computer programmers or web designers or had an android or were given time to test it out thoroughly.

There seem to be two influences on the redesigned GRNSW website. One would be that GRV now offers live broadcasts on your smartphone so NSW has to keep up. Another would be that web architects are forever wanting to try something new or different its in the DNA of the (normally) young guys who do this sort of work.
What they are doing is tweaking what was already there, clearly without investigating what current users thought about it or what sort of job it did. This approximates the way that the original designers put the form/results/career info together (they were Canberra-based consultants who knew little about racing, despite assurances from Hogan & co the they were experts the evidence is to the contrary).
What we got was
A flowery multi-page formguide that took up three pages per race and was hard to read in poor light. No ability to download form or race results to a customers program. Printing out was limited to one race at a time whether formguide or results. A continuation of the always limited old deFax guide in parallel to the new web version still sold oncourse.
None of those problems occur in Watchdog/GRV which is a full service deal.
Consequently, anyone needing that info would be forced to dismiss NSW and probably other states races from their betting calendar and head straight to Victoria. (Some exceptions for WA which has its own locally produced system running in parallel and is quite good. Not so for Qld which does a similar job but badly. Tassie is like Qld and offers limited info).
Originally, OzChase (ie NSW and WA) sought to bring Victoria into the fold but it got knocked back. Thank heavens for that. Watchdog is not perfect but it is streets ahead of anything OzChase does. Nor do they talk well to each other at times. Note, for instance, how career form inquiries into OzChase will not show videos of Victorian races and vice versa.
PS: Designing with smartphone technology in mind is fine for many people but it is a pain in the neck if you want to seriously look into form in any race. Small screens were never designed to do that job. Thats why full formguide access is essential if you want to have a good punt.

If you are searching for a dog, go into the old site and click the "statistics" tab and you will find a search there.
