If a dog received vet treatment with Stanozolol, how long would it be expected to remain in system with regard to racing?

Don't hold me to it, but I think it can linger in the system for 4-6 months after treatment. I'm sure I read about a Victorian trainer getting a positive off a dog that received treatment with it's previous NSW trainer

You don't know anyone who plays for the Cronulla Sharks by any chance? They'll have more of a idea :)
But seriously I wouldn't be nominating until I'd phoned greyhounds Australasia or your controlling body to clarify

Matts 100% right its a water based testosrerone wont be in the system for as long as a oil based testosterone but may linger in small amounts for a long time..
Better to get a clearance before risking it.

Hi Paul. Im sure the vet would have given advice on how long the drug would remain in the system....but what if the dog in question was sold to a new owner who was unaware of the operation or treatment?

Stiff Sh1t I guess.

Stazanol (winstrol) has a 24 hour half life if injected. E.g 10 mg is 5 mg after 24 hrs, then 2.5 mg after a further 24 hrs and so on until its out of the system.

I remember using this on greyhounds short term , makes them turn their head though. Also Dean Capobiacno turned a positive on it 25 years ago after his masking agent stopped being affective . Pretty sure he used it on his calf or hamstring.
Anyway they'll pick it up after 6 months if they want to .

Could always ask Ben Johnson , that was the stuff he was on when stripped of his Olympic title back in 1988 ...... and then maybe add another few days on top.

hi this product was one of the first to throw out with the new swabbing system.
from testing reports the product can still be detected from weeks upto months in different greyhounds giving different readings
will get you a holiday just check grv stewards reports.
was used to get them to chase.
it interest me why you would has a vet give this drug or are you feeling the water.
