Would be interesting to know if the dog (the favourite) was swabbed. They dont always win as we know but considering he pulled off the plunge I thought it may of been mentioned. Sent you a PM Steve. Thanks in advance. Cheers

People have been backing against their own dogs for years

Lots of PRO trainers shuffle around reserves to suit themself many times the longer price dog wins ..

Ok mate, sorry to get off topic but it was regarding the dosage and usage of the L-Tryptophan..The fact that you can bet so many ways on many different outcomes promotes these type of activities. Cheers

The way so many dogs are wrongly graded I don't see a problem with a trainer betting against his 4th grader in a FFA race. It's not rocket science that your dog has no bloody hope and you can make a bit extra on your travel money.
If your dog is the only FFA in a race and is $1.50 and you back the 2nd favourite, that's an entirely different staory.

like some trainers have 3/4/5 dogs in one race ,

so you have to back them all to keep authorities happy ?

The perception of a trainer or even an owner betting on another dog in the same race as their own compromises the integrity of the sport. It has never been allowed under the rules of racing.

That's exactly what I was thinking Mick, but I was waiting for somebody else to mention it.

I can totally understand the rule about punting against your dog but for the life of me, when you have 2,3 or 4 dogs in the same race, commonsense has to come into play for this rule is to be exercised.

So it's alright to bet on your dog to win but it's not alright to bet on your other dogs in the race to also win!!!!! Who's to say the dog in question "Bolo" would not start favorite in the end?

Just for the record, BOLO had not started for 6 months and was having its first start back from an outside draw (box 7) in a short 312m distance. The trainer obviously didn't think the dog was good enough to win as it's next 2 starts it also finished unplaced, even from a favourable box 1 draw. It did eventually win at its 5th start in the NT over a different distance (383m) but that's not hard as the quality in Darwin is average, at best.

If you watch the race, the winner absolutely pinged the lids and the fav BOLO did get into a good spot approaching the corner only to be run off by the 5 BADLY.

Based on the evidence shown, I would not have pleaded guilty. Totally madness.

IMO, a solicitor (one in his first year) would have beat this outcome....at half the price that was delt.

PS....The rule needs adjusting due to changes in the industry that have occurred since 2015.
