I can't help but be impressed with Newinn Taylor's win ,& Ballymac Wild as well, they just seem to be peaking at the right time to win the final, whilst Pestana is obviously the dog to beat,he might just not cross as easily in his q/f,but more importantly,is there any further improvement left in him to win the Derby ??,I will go out on a limb here & say,I don't think there is. Newinn Taylor is drawn very well in the Q/F & should win again,& Ballymac Wild has drawn a bit sticky, but is very smart & is open to further improvement,& i think one of these two will win the Derby. Who else has a prediction ? Cheers All.
Pestanas heat in the quarter final is facinating, some serious early in it and pestana will be looking to get to the rail, hopefully he poweers through, the sport could do with a super dog winning the derby and Pestana might just be that dog.

Agree, only way to beat him is drawing out. But, even then he tends to smash everything and come out still in front...as he did in the Champion Stakes. Deerjet Sydney in T4 crashes left and Cooper in T6 should give Pestana all the room he needs to break their hearts early....
Sometime's even champions have a off night & mis-fortune out of the boxes...just saying,& certainly not wishing that on any dog, even if it is a maiden.
David...don't be so sensitive mate, picking holes you say ,fair bloody dinkum, greyhound racing throws up all sorts of suprises & outcomes, especially so ,from the starting boxes ( or traps as you guys call them ),for the record David,Pestana is one of the very best beginners i have ever seen in over 35 years of involvement in greyhound racing,( & i have seen some of the very very best here in Australia ),but in saying that,i have also seen those same greyhounds, abslolutely get it all wrong out of the boxes & invaribly ,when it really counts in Group 1 Finals,& Pestana has a terrible trait of cutting anything drawn inside him,in half when he jumps,& what i am saying is,that one of these nights,it may cost him dearly, especially if something drawn on his inside, begins on terms with him & either holds it's ground,or,wants to push off,my opinion David is all about what could & can happen in racing,& it dont matter if they are maidens or Champions, again mate, definitely not "picking holes ". Cheers mate.

Its the nature of life.
There will always be someone looking to pick holes in a Champion.
Of course anything can happen, but Pestana is still the most likely winner.
He is the best drawn dog in the quarter finals as he will have an empty track in front of him the whole way to the bend on Saturday night.
Every enthusiast would love to see him in Trap 1 in the Final and the brilliant Newinn Taylor in Trap 6.
Only disappointment is that we wont be there to see it!

Sensational nights racing, with Ballymac Wild first posting a near record 29.07 run...only to have Pestana match him with 29.07 equal FTON. And again Newinn Taylor landing his 1/4 in a flying 29.19.
Semi Final 1
T1 Catchmeflying T2 Meena Miracle T3 Scooby Princess T4 Toolmaker Sydney T5 Ballymac Cooper T6 Newinn Taylor
G'day Darren, both my fancy's through, will be very intresting semi finals...."to be sure "...look out Pestana, these two greyhounds might just put the pressure on early,& might just " worry " him & chase you down in the final ??.

Hi Daryl, Wild has been flawless and still flying under the radar of Pestana. The big question is can the lid pinging Boylesports Xtra hold Pestana up to the first bend In S/F 2? To allow Wild to get close enough down the back to finish over the top of him late. Lets hope all the remaining top hopes get through for a cracking good final.
I believe that could very well pan out like that Darren,& Newinn Taylor like Ballymac Wild still have that little more improvement in them i think, but in saying that,i dont believe they have to improve to beat Pestana in the Final, what mouth watering semi finals they are going to be mate.

Newinn Taylor just walks into the final now. The other semi is lopsided much harder. But still good to see the top picks mainly got through. Hopefully the track is good and they run cleanly and fast times. Its gonna be a cracker of a final. Hopefully the big guns all get through.

Are RTE covering the Derby this year? When they did...we could watch the live stream on their website. But, at present no...just wait for the replay.

No Darren we are out of favour with whoever it is that has the call on broadcasts by RTE. Plenty of staff working there it seems oppose horse/dog racing. Will this link load for you. Click on the greyhound icon bottom left if that is visible. It should then display some programmes. If that works there may be a chance to watch it live.
